The Sparkle Times
During Term 1 the Year 1’s to 6’s have been busy in Visual Arts exploring and investigating the art techniques used by Claude Monet! Each year level made an art piece inspired by one of Monet’s famous artworks or by his popular impressionist style. The students have absolutely blown us away with how amazing their artworks are.
Year 1:
Year 1 students discovered Monet’s ‘Water Lillies’ series of artworks and created their own miniature lily pads. They explored new painting techniques such as blending to create their ponds, lily pads and flowers. Absolutely adorable!

Year 2:
Year 2 students recreated the very famous ‘Bridge over a Pond of Water Lillies’. They used watercolour paints, oil pastels and salt! These artworks are stunning and are currently on display in the main building near the prep classrooms and in the Visual Arts room.

Year 3:
Year 3 students investigated the ways Monet would paint boats and seascape scenes in his artworks. They created a mixed-media artwork inspired by a range of Monet’s famous sea pieces. They used watercolour paints and oil pastels to create their art. These artworks are currently on display in the main building near the prep classrooms and in the Visual Arts room.

Year 4:
Year 4 students explored how Monet would paint forests, trees and wintery scenes in his artworks. They were introduced to the art style of impressionism. The Year 4’s created an artwork inspired by Monet’s impressionist style and his art pieces. They used acrylic and watercolour paints to create their piece. They worked on incorporating fine details into their artworks. These pieces are vibrant and give the impression of a cold, wintery day.
Monet Inspired Birch Trees - Anna, Leyla, Anqier, Mathias (Year 4)
Year 5:
Year 5 students recreated the famous ‘Haystack’ painting by Monet. However instead of painting it, they used the hatching technique using oil pastels to do so. They looked at how Monet would recreate the same scene multiple times but during different times of the day which would mean the artwork would be different colours each time. These artworks created by the Year 5’s are super vibrant and eye- catching. We are obsessed with them. They are currently on display in the main building near the office/staffroom.

Year 6:
Year 6 students explored impressionist art style, made popular by Monet and created an impressionist inspired landscape. They used advanced painting techniques using different types of watercolour paints to create their artworks. Their pieces have a dreamlike quality to them (impressionism) and are gloriously magnificent to look at. We are extremely proud of the hard work the Year 6’s put into their pieces.
