Level 5

Term 2 kicked off with a bang for Level 5! The enthusiasm and energy in the classrooms are palpable as we dive into our new learning adventures.

Kinder Connections program:

We are thrilled to announce that our Kinder Connections program will start this term. In week 2, 5YS students visited Heathmont East Preschool and had a wonderful time with their kinder buddies.

This program will foster bonds and friendships across different age groups within our school community. This outing promises to be educational and enjoyable, providing valuable experiences for our young learners.

We continue our engaging journey with the "6 Minutes Podcast" in Term 2! Each day, students eagerly listen to an episode and improve their speaking and listening skills by predicting plot twists and generating insightful questions. This immersive activity fosters critical thinking and active participation, enriching their learning experience.

Reading:

In our reading sessions, we embarked on a captivating journey through the pages of "Help Around the House" by Morris Gleitzman. Through this engaging class novel, students will hone their predicting and inferring skills, all while exploring the rich themes of Australian Democracy—a perfect integration with our ongoing Inquiry topic.

Inquiry:

Get ready for an action-packed term ahead! We have an incursion in the pipeline designed to enhance our students' learning experiences. Please keep an eye out for more details, which will be communicated to parents very soon.

Writing:

Over the first five weeks of Term 2, our writing focus will be crafting informative and engaging information reports. Students will be able to explore various topics while mastering the art of effectively presenting information.

Math:

Fraction frenzy awaits in our Math sessions! This term, we're delving deep into the world of fractions—exploring concepts such as equivalent fractions, comparing and ordering fractions, and adding and subtracting fractions. Get ready to embrace the challenge and conquer fractions like never before!
