It’s only Week 2 and 3GE has already completed so much work! 

READING 

In our Reading lessons we continued with making Text-to-World connections from last term. We then practised summarising fiction texts using the ‘Somebody, Wanted, But, So, Then’ strategy and summarising non-fiction. 

WRITING 

We have started to learn about information reports, including how to structure them and how to take notes. 

MATHS

In Maths, we started the term focussing on 2D shapes. As part of our learning, we explored how to make tessellations using one or more shapes.

We have also been learning about estimating length (including height, width and depth) and checking our estimates using a ruler or measuring tape.

INQUIRY

During our Inquiry unit Grade 3 is investigating what ‘democracy’ means. We are learning why rules and laws help to keep our community safe and fair for everyone. We are finding out ways that we can help make decisions that make our community a better place.
