Specialists Updates and Celebrations
Music (Prep)
We have been very lucky to have Miss Daniella join us in the music room for production practice. Miss Daniella is teaching every class in the school the dance choreography for the school production – Kalm Kidz TV.
Our Prep students have been working super hard to learn their dance. They are representing Captain Courage in the show.
To support the transition from the music room to the stage, we have aimed to prepare our Prep students with what to expect at the show. This has included discussions on the show synopsis for Kalm Kidz TV and a close look at the characters. We have also shared photos of the stage form their point of view and the audience, as well as explained things like the green room and backstage.
Performing Arts (Prep)
The Prep students have also been practicing their production dance and refining their skills in their Performing Arts lessons. In these classes, students have focused on timing and following the various movements within each beat of the song. They had the opportunity to showcase their knowledge of the production dance to the class by performing. This built their confidence and allowed them to display their talents and love for dance.
Physical Education (Years 1 and 2)
Our Year 1 and 2 students have begun practising their bouncing skills to set them up for basketball in the future. Students have focussed on being able to control the ball whilst bouncing and even look up whilst bouncing still. They played a game called "Dodge the Dinosaurs" in which they had to dodge cones (dinosaurs), whilst practising the bouncing.
If you want to practise more at home see if you can do any of these:
Mandarin (Years 3 and 4)
In Year 3 and 4 Mandarin classes, students are practising body parts vocabulary by writing both characters and pinyin and engaging in speaking. They also played interactive games like "Fish and Fishing," where they match words to images, helping them reinforce their memory in a fun and dynamic way.
Year 3 students are working with Mrs. and Mr. Potato Head toys, assembling different body parts and saying them in Mandarin. This creative activity encourages them to use new vocabulary, boosting both their speaking confidence and language recall.
Visual Arts (Years 5 and 6)
The Years 5 and 6 students loved making flapping butterflies in Art this week! This task required students to use their maths skills to create symmetrical patterns on their butterflies wings. To construct the butterflies so that the wings could actually flap, the students had to cut out and stick their butterflies onto pegs. They had to be very careful and meticulous to stick the butterflies on just right so that the wings would flap - making them look like real butterflies!
