Community Group

Community Group Meeting:

Next meeting: August 6th 2024 at 7pm in the staffroom. It is here we discuss upcoming events, brainstorm new events, talk about fundraising goals and celebrate past events. ALL parents and carers WELCOME.

🌭End of Term 2 sausage sizzle🍞

THANK YOU to the incredible parents who were able to come along to the end of Term 2 sausage sizzle. Without your time and help cooking, serving and cleaning up, we wouldn’t have been able to feed our hungry students over 500 sausages!

🔨🌭Bunnings BBQ🌭🔨 🧅

Bunnings BBQ fundraiser was held last Saturday July 27th. It raised over $1,800 for our school, we will discuss in our meeting on Tuesday what everyone would like funds to be put towards.

We sincerely THANK those families who could come along and cook, serve and join in the fun!

A HUGE thanks to Matt and Kristen for organising the BBQ, slicing onions and carting around bread and sausages.

To our dedicated teachers who didn’t have to come along outside of work, THANK YOU for filling in the gaps in the roster. Your commitment to our school community never ceases to amaze us.

If you missed this Bunnings BBQ there will be an opportunity to help with two more later in the year. It’s always a great way to connect with our school families and greater community.

🍫 🐸 ⚒️ Chocolates at Bunnings ⚒️🐸🍫

We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to sell the extra Freddos at Bunnings while we were doing the BBQ over the weekend. Thank you to Bunnings for allowing us the space in the entrance to sell our frogs! Much of the day, Freddos were sold by some of our students. THANK YOU for your time, maths skills and making it possible to sell almost $500 worth of frogs! You sure did our school proud.

💵💰🍫Cadbury Chocolates 🍫💰💵

Money is due back to the office by the end of next week.

If you can’t sell the whole box, that is ok. Just return the box with extras and money to cover what has been taken. Complete boxes are worth $60.

🏰🏗️Lego🧱🪻

Community group was able to contribute around $500 worth of Lego for Lego Therapy. This means more resources for your children. These little contributions are examples of what some of the fundraising money goes towards.

Netball Rings

For many years it has been discussed that indoor netball rings are needed for wet weather training or sports lessons. Community Group is proud to have been able to purchase a set of indoor netball rings that have now been delivered, and will be installed in the stadium over the coming weeks. This is another example of a larger project that fundraising money is used for.

🎟️🏆Major Raffle🏝️💰

I met with David a few weeks back to discuss the Major Raffle for term 3 & 4. We are just in the process of organising prizes, potential sponsorship and tickets. Tickets will be available shortly. If you have any ideas or interest in helping please feel free to reach out to me via text or call. Sheena: 0413902752

Sports:

Netball 🎽

9&U Sparrows Netball

St Luke's Sparrows have been doing so well in their first year of netball. They have learnt so many new skills, while learning the rules and playing so well as a team. Last week we won against Kyabram and you could see how much the girls have improved thanks to the great coaching from Leah. They're all having fun and look forward to their Saturday games.

15/6/2024 - Versus Mooroopna Cats

Came up against the Mooroopna Cats, This game, it was very noticeable by how the players played in their positions and used space of the court, their accuracy in chest passes, Watching the ball for intercepts and goal scores. It was a close game and we were fortunate enough to come away with the win.

Award: Zoe Murray

29/6/2024 - Versus Bouchier Street

It's great to see what the girls are learning at training they are taking into the game. We were very dominant in this game. Great team work from all players. Well done.

Award: Chelsea Demase

Special mention to coach Leah who is working her magic to ensure all 11 players are receiving fair play time. Not an easy task with so many in one team. Thanks Leah for your time in this process, it's not going unnoticed.

Meals:

If you are in need of a meal due to illness, a new baby or your family is just having a tough time, please reach out.

Similarly if you have a meal we could pop in the freezer for a family, simply date and label with ingredients and drop at the office.

This year we will try to offer each event as a ‘sunset group’, that all parents are welcome to join in. These events may be just a once off and would suit your interest/s, and time schedule. They include things like the upcoming end of term BBQ or major raffle.

More info on ways to get involved to come.
