Over the past two weeks, we have focused on summarising using timelines. Students have successfully identified key dates from biographies to create concise summaries. Additionally, they have diligently read their group novels in preparation for the end of term. Due to their excellent performance in recent reading tests, most students will advance to higher-level reading groups next term. Well done!

Information Reports
Over the last two weeks the Grade 5/6s have been working hard at publishing their information reports. Students were able to choose to publish either their sea creature report or their report on their classmate. It was wonderful to see the effort and focus each student put into publishing their piece!

For the past 3 weeks the grade 5/6 have focused on Angles. The students had the opportunity to learn how to identify angles based on size and measurements. They also began comparing and estimating angles. Students now have the ability to construct angles using a protractor and identify the difference between complementary and supplementary angles.

Stolen Generation

This term our Inquiry focus has been on the Stolen Generation. We have spent time reading information and watching movies such as “Rabbit Proof Fence” that have helped us understand the events of the Stolen Generation. Students have now asked their own personal questions about the Stolen Generation and have spent time answering these questions. We are almost ready to present our findings to our community.

AFL Gala Day
Last Thursday we sent 3 teams of students to Dallas Brooks Primary School. All of our teams quickly learnt the rules and skills of Australian Rules Football. Congratulations to our 5/6 Girls team who went through to the grand final against Dallas Brooks Primary and won! Next term, they will be moving up to the next division to play against schools from outside our area.
