Basketball at Kildare
Term 2 was a busy term for Basketball at Kildare. In Week 6 Kildare took part in the first BNSW Schools tournament in this region at the PCYC. We took an Open’s boys and Open’s girls team. The girls did very well with a few first time basketball players, winning two out of three games to take them into the Grand Final against a strong Trinity side where they went down finishing as runners up. The boys played extremely well winning all their pool games and making it into the Grand final against Trinity as well. The boys enthusiasm and effort was outstanding with the game being decided in the final seconds. Unfortunately they went down as well finishing as runners up.
The Open’s girls team took part in the John Vrolyks Cup opening with a tough draw against Kooringal. They played a strong game against Mater Dei but unfortunately finished 2nd on point differential, this meant they had to play Christian College to make the Grand Final. With a good win against Christian College they were set for a rematch with Kooringal in the Grand final. After a back and forth game Kildare managed to edge away in the fourth quarter resulting in back to back John Vrolyks Cup titles. Sadie Pankhurst was awarded the Finals MVP after a strong performance throughout the tournament.
Finally both of Kildare's basketball teams that play in the Wagga Basketball’s local competition found their way into the Grand final. The Under 16’s girls unfortunately finished as runners up, however the Under 18’s girls managed to win their competition, a great season by all who participated.

BISSA Athletics Carnival
