Principal Message
Welcome back to Term 3. We hope everyone had a lovely holiday despite the cold and are ready for another inspiring term of learning at Kildare.
We welcomed all students back at assembly on Tuesday and covered a few points at the start of term. Your support talking with your daughter and / or son would assist greatly.
All students are asked to identify their learning goals for the term ahead from this week based on feedback they have received from their teachers about their learning. Where do they need to improve? Do they know what they need to do to improve? What is their plan to get the support they need from their teachers who are so generous with their time? All important questions they need to answer.
The parent teacher meetings next week for Year 10 at the college will be held to discuss subjects and pathways for Year 11, 2025. This event is a particularly important evening and we look forward to seeing all Year 10 parents and students on the night at 6.00pm.
Our assembly was a timely reminder to all students of our Positive Behaviour for Learning strategy across the college and our “Student Expected Behaviours Matrix”. Please discuss the implications of this with your daughter and/or son. This has been most successful in creating calmer classroom learning environments and all other areas around the college. Students have responded well to our affirmations and rewards strategy and we look forward to further success as the term progresses.
This week saw Jed and Hayden head to the Gold Coast along with team official Mr Ryan Price for the School Sport Australia National U/15 AFL championships. This is a wonderful achievement for them all and we wish them every success.
This term sees our inter school soccer competitions commencing for girls and boys. We look forward to hearing of their success . The Opens Boys started well with a win and the girls had a bye. Best of luck!
On Monday this week we held a staff development day for our staff looking at key issues for them in learning- our new syllabuses and the implications for student writing as well as a deep dive into Generative AI, upskilling teachers to support students in this important and rapidly emerging area. You will have heard about new syllabuses landing in Primary schools this week; the same is happening this year and in years ahead in response to the Masters Report on the NSW curriculum. The timeline link is here for your consideration.
Our preparations for Year 7 2025 are continuing apace and I note with concern that we still have a number of families with siblings at KCC who have not completed documentation with applications or returned enrolment agreements. Unfortunately if these aren’t attended too applications will be moved to our waiting list as we are oversubscribed for 2025 and we need certainty of numbers for 2025 in the next week or so. These families have already been contacted a number of times. Please help us to help you by getting these necessary documents lodged asap.
We are mindful of our Year 12’s at this time as they prepare for their Trial HSC examinations along with those who have major projects due. It is a stressful time and we encourage all to reach out for help from teachers, wellbeing team and counsellors for support if needed.
Best wishes for the term ahead and thank you for your ongoing support of the college.
