Foundation Reptile Incursion
Our Foundation students were excited to to welcome, Reptile Encounters' to our school! This incursion provided students with a unique, hands-on learning experience. Students had the opportunity to see and interact with a range of reptiles, and other animals learning about their habitats, behaviors, and the important role they play in our ecosystem.
Interschool Chess
Rupsy (5C) recently participated in an Interschool Chess Tournament hosted by Lilydale Primary School. The event saw 74 students from 14 schools competing. Rupsy won the Girls' Silver Medal by securing five wins out of her seven games. Due to her excellent performance, Rupsy has been selected to compete at the Girls' State Final. Congratulations, Rupsy!
Victorian Zonal Inter-school Chess Tournament
Fourteen primary schools competed at the Victorian Zonal Inter-School Chess Tournament on Tuesday, 18 June. Each TPS chess player competed exceptionally well, and the top 4 collectively earned 20.5 points, making them the winning team:
- Telek (Grade 5): Achieved 6 points, 1st Individual Ranking
- Lachlan (Grade 6): Achieved 5 points
- Jacob (Grade 4): Achieved 5 points
- Rupsy (Grade 5): Achieved 4.5 points
- Jace (Grade 6): Achieved 4.5 points
- Ioannis (Grade 3): Achieved 4 points
- Michael (Grade 5): Achieved 3.5 points
- Jerome (Grade 4): Achieved 3 points
- Harrison (Prep) & Lucas (Grade 5)
As a result of their outstanding performance, our chess players will progress to the state championships later in the year, having now qualified twice. Congratulations to all our participants!
Michigan All State Band
We were honored to host the Lions Michigan State Band for a special performance at our school. Their outstanding repertoire captivated our students, leaving them thoroughly impressed. After the performance, the band engaged with our students in a Q&A session, where we were immensely proud of the thoughtful questions our students asked. This incredible opportunity thrilled everyone, providing a memorable and inspiring experience.
Lantern-Making Workshop and Nighttime Walk
A collection of Toorak Primary School (TPS) students participated in the annual Spatzenschule traditional German lantern-making workshop. The students were provided with all the materials needed to create their colorful lanterns. After crafting their beautiful lanterns, the students enjoyed a magical nighttime lantern walk, showcasing their creations. They also had the opportunity to savor delicious German food and drinks, adding to the festive atmosphere.
It was a wonderful event that combined creativity, cultural tradition, and community spirit.
