Dear Parents and Carers,

As the term concludes and we reach the end of the first semester, it is once again an opportunity to reflect on our students' growth and to thank our wonderful staff and supportive school community. A big thank-you to the many parents who have engaged with our school helping in classrooms, attending excursions, assisting at our sporting carnivals, assisting with the art show, being part of the school council, organising and or participating in school events such as parent functions, open mornings, musical soiree and the fantastic and engaging maths night plus many other events.

I look forward to seeing many of you, at the end-of-term Community Coffee Cart this Friday. This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our wonderful term and at the same time connect with others and see the musical talents of the Foundation and Gr 1 students.

Thank You to our Teachers!

As you may know, all schools still face casual replacement teachers (CRTs) shortages. Thankfully, although our school is experiencing some of the challenges and shortages faced by other schools, the wonderful culture, and dedicated staff, we have here, are helping to lessen these issues.

I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and express my heartfelt gratitude for the extraordinary efforts of our dedicated teachers. Our teachers have gone above and beyond to ensure that every student receives a high-quality education. It is their dedication and love for our school community that has enabled TPS to continue providing an enriching learning environment.

As we navigate the challenges of CRT, ES, and the teacher shortage, it is crucial that we, as a community, continue to support our teachers. Simple gestures of appreciation can have a big impact. A kind word, a thank-you note, or any form of acknowledgment can significantly brighten their day. Let’s demonstrate how much we value their dedication and hard work.

2:30 pm finish this Friday.

This Friday, we will end term 2 at 2:30 pm.  Please ensure you have adjusted your pickup arrangements due to the earlier finishing time. Term 3 will commence on Monday 15th July. We will be holding our assembly at 2.05 pm to conclude the term.

What has been your student achievement for this semester?

Student reports will be made available, via Compass, for all families tomorrow afternoon with parent-teacher meetings organised for early in term 3.

When reading over the report, please take the opportunity with your child, to consider the following:

  • celebrate your child’s achievements and focus on their strengths.
  • discuss areas in which they can improve and ask your child what they would like to be better at. Then brainstorm two or three practical actions that they can take to improve on the identified areas.
  • keep the ongoing conversation and partnership with the class teacher.

Avoid the temptation to compare your child’s report to that of a friend or particularly to a sibling. Each child is different, and learning develops at different rates for all children. Children are unique and have different interests, experiences, and opportunities that determine their ability to learn, and the pace at which they learn also varies. If your child is genuinely trying their best, then as a parent, you cannot ask for more.

The staff looks forward to discussing, the reports, with you, at the parent-teacher interviews, on the 2nd Wednesday of Term 3. Bookings can be made through Compass tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you again for the ongoing support that you have provided your child and the teachers throughout this year. It is amazing what our students have been able to achieve! After reviewing the reports of many students, I am incredibly proud of their achievements and the learning growth they have all demonstrated.   Yet again, our teachers have been amazing this term and I have encouraged them to put away their laptops and enjoy the next two weeks. I’ve encouraged them to focus on themselves, their friends, and their families, and recharge themselves ready for term 3. I am incredibly proud of Toorak Primary School and what we have achieved together!

We know that both our students and teachers are getting tired, and everyone is looking forward to some quality time with friends and family and a very relaxing break. I hope that all our community enjoy the very well-deserved break. We look forward to everyone’s safe return for the start of term 3 on Monday 15th July.

Kind regards
