Year 5 - Bush Poetry
Mick Coventry paid a visit to our Year 5 students to teach them about ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ก ๐ฉ๐จ๐๐ญ๐ซ๐ฒ. Mick introduced the students to bush poetry and taught them how to write their own. He also performed many poems written by himself, including โBarney the bashful bunyip.โ
ย
To make Mick's visit more special, he even wrote his own poem about St Anne's while he was visiting! Thank you Mick.

Year 5 Buddies Creating Dioramas
The Year 5 students joined forces with their buddies in Foundation to complete some dioramas recently. It's so fantastic to see the relationship and bonds between the buddies continue to blossom and flourish throughout the school year.
The Year 5 students have taken on the role with gusto and have been a huge support to the Foundation students as they navigate their way through their first year of schooling.ย
Year 8 Tiny Houses
The Year 8 students are busily finalising their Term 2 inquiry based project The students wrote proposals to design a tiny home that will meet the needs of its occupants.
ย
Their proposals included sustainable features to reduce the impact on the environment and a budget for the complete fit-out of their house. From their proposal they have developed floor plans that included a scale, this has led them to the final stage โ building a model of their ๐ง๐ถ๐ป๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐๐ฒ. The students have selected a variety of materials to do this including cardboard boxes, clay and Lego.
ย
Their Tiny Houses are looking fantastic! Check out the progress below:ย
Year 9 Scienceย
It was fabulous to see our students fostering their curiosity and critical thinking when Anuโs Year 9 students created electromagnets using batteries, copper wires and iron nails. If the students built their electromagnets correctly, they were able to pick up magnetic substances. What a fun experiment it was!!
Year 9 Product Design
The Year 9 students have been showcasing their creativity during product design. They are busy making an assortment of items including props for the upcoming school production โInto the Woodsโ which is taking place in October. The items include chairs, coffee tables and a book shelf. We can't wait to see the props in action!

Class Resources
Our iPads! Please ensure any damage is reported to Pastoral Group Leaders and IT staff to ensure it can be rectified as soon as possible.ย iPads must be fully charged each day and it is encouraged that we adopt good habits to assist us with this.ย
Important Pastoral Group Information
At St. Anneโs College, all students within the School of Innovation are allocated to a Pastoral Group. These groups are overseen by a Pastoral Group Leader and currently comprise students from their respective houses: Montessori, Charles, Cooper, and Majella houses.
ย
Each morning, students commence their day within their Pastoral Groups. This time involves participation in morning prayer, a welcome to country, and updates about the day's news and events at the College. This period holds significance in allowing our students to establish strong connections with their peers and their Pastoral Leader. Consequently, our students are able to cultivate a strong sense of community at St. Anneโs College.
ย
Our Pastoral Leaders also seize this opportunity to implement the three core principles of Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness (GEM), which stem from our school-wide program conducted by the Resilience Project. These principles encourage our students to contemplate and recognise the positive facets of their day-to-day experiences both at the College and at home. This practice ensures that our students embark on each day well-prepared for successful learning and meaningful connections with others.
ย
Given that this session only spans 10 minutes each morning, it is imperative that students are punctual and actively participate within their designated Pastoral Groups. If students miss this period or arrive late, they will forfeit this crucial initiation to the school day.
ย
We extend our gratitude to all parents and caregivers for your sustained support in ensuring that this routine is upheld for the continued success of our students.
Important Uniform Information
A reminder that all School of Innovation students are required to wear their academic uniform items each day, except for sports days or other nominated days when their sports uniform items can be worn. Please ensure your student is in their full academic uniform. If this is not possible on a particular day, please send a note, including the date your student will be able to be in full school uniform.
ย
A dress code, in particular a uniform, provides a visual connection to identify students as members of St Anneโs College community. The way a uniform is worn makes a statement about our college and it represents the fact that the student is a part of the community.ย The benefits of a school uniform include:
ย
โข Allows all students to feel equal
โข Helps prevent bullying and competition on the basis of clothing
โข Ensures students appearance reflects the expectations of St Anneโs College
โข Enhances the profile and identity of the College and its students in the wider community
โข Strengthens the spirit of community within St Anneโs College
โข Enhances individual student safety and group security
โข Ensured all students are dressed safely and appropriately for school activities
โข Encourages students to develop pride in their appearance
โข Prepares students for the expectations in workplaces
โข Encourages students to present themselves appropriately for a particular role
ย
Thank you for your support.
