From the Principal

Benvenuto - Welcome

Dear Parents and Carers,

We made it to the end of an 11 week term – always a feat to cheer about! There have been many opportunities to celebrate the great learning that has been occurring in and around the college over the last term. We had a wonderful expo of the Year 3/4 students at the college on Thursday and we have seen some incredibly creative works coming out of the School of Innovation, particularly in art and humanities. There was also a fantastic mini-expo in Nikea's Foundation class on Thursday which showcased their work on their inquiry topic looking into where products come from.

Our senior students continue their learning and preparation for end of year exams – it will not be long before we farewell our very first cohort of Year 12 students. Many preparations are underway for this milestone event!

Speaking of milestone events, July 25 and 26 will be a busy time at the college as we have the official opening of our Stage 2B buildings with students and dignitaries in attendance as well as our annual grandparents mass and celebration of the college Feast Day for St Anne and St Joachim which is open to the St Anne's College community to attend. See futher details on this event in the Upcoming Events section of this il giornale.

This week our college was reviewed by the VRQA to check compliance with the minimum standards for registration as a school setting. The reviewer came to the college and viewed our policies, procedures, processes and had a general check of the college to ensure we were meeting the standards. We received confirmation we are fully compliant.

This week our Year 10 students have engaged in their work experience for a week. Students have had the opportunity to go out into the workforce in an industry of interest to see what the day-to-day life of that industry is like. This experience is an extremely important aspect of the careers program and provides some really great insight for the students as they explore their pathways.

Just a note on uniform, please ensure you are aware and understand the uniform requirements for students at the college. If there is an exceptional circumstance where a student is out of uniform, please provide a note explaining the reason behind this so we can support you. Please take the school holiday period as a time to make any arrangements to ensure your child is meeting the uniform expectations.

This week the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) released Version 2.0 of the Victorian Curriculum. The release includes the Arts, Health and Physical Education, Humanities, Languages (Chinese, French, Italian and Japanese), Science, Technologies, capabilities, foundational skills and cross-curriculum priorities. This follows the curriculum release of English 2.0 and Mathematics 2.0 in 2023. To support this release, the VCAA has provided resources, introductory videos and interactive webinars on the new F-10 curriculum website. The videos outline key revisions and important aspects of the curriculum, and the webinars are an opportunity to ask questions and better understand the curriculum with a VCAA curriculum manager.

I hope that your holiday period is filled with joy and connection.

We look forward to seeing all our students back at school on Tuesday 16 July with the exception of our Unit 4 students who will return on Monday 15 July.
