Careers & Pathways
Year 10 Work Experience
We are so proud of our Year 10 students who are out on work experience this week at various locations across the Goulburn Valley and even further afield in Melbourne.
For some students, this is their first exposure to work and, for others, it is an opportunity to explore possible future career pathways. We received some wonderful feedback and have loved seeing some of them in action working on projects. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the local businesses who have generously provided our students the opportunity and invested their time and effort to provide their insight into the industry. Congratulations to those who have completed their week of placement. Take a look at some of the students in action at their various workplaces:
University Open Days
In August and September universities and colleges will open their doors to the public for a day. Apart from being heaps of fun (think live bands, free food, uni mascots walking around campus, demonstrations, competitions, giveaways and workshops), you will be able to do the following:
- Attend information sessions on the courses you’re interested in.
- Speak directly to course advisers, lecturers, current students and faculty advisers.
- Tour the campus, labs, and accommodation.
- Talk to different clubs, societies, and sports teams.
- Learn about global exchange, student leadership programs, internships.
- Get information about services such as disability support, counselling, legal advice, and onsite medical services (e.g., pharmacy, doctors).
- Learn about scholarships and financial assistance.
Should parents go?
Absolutely! Parents sometimes have different questions than students and are looking for different information, such as on-site campus security, job outcomes for courses, and financial support. It’s crucial to for both students and families to gather information together and then assess it as a team.
Are you planning a career in medicine?

It's important to stay motivated by your passion for the field and to balance your academic pursuits with activities that support your wellbeing and personal interests.
Attached is a list of advice for Year 9-12 students aiming for a career in medicine.

Applying for medicine or dentistry?
If you are planning on applying to university to study medicine or dentistry in 2025 you are required to sit the UCAT in addition to applying through VTAC in Term 3.
What is UCAT?
UCAT stands for University Clinical Aptitude Test. UCAT is one of three main criteria used by most universities in Australia and New Zealand to select students into high demand health related careers such as medicine and dentistry (the other two criteria being performance in Year 12 and an interview).
The UCAT is a two hour, computer-based test which assesses a range of mental abilities identified by universities as important to practicing in the fields of medicine and dentistry. It consists of five separately timed subtests which each contain a number of questions in a multiple-choice format.
