Chilled and thrilled for Frozen

We are thrilled to share an exciting progress update on our School Production - the enchanting musical, Frozen Jr. As we reach another milestone in our theatrical journey, we are delighted to inform you that we have just completed the blocking phase of the production, bringing us one step closer to a magical and memorable performance which will come to the stage as we start Term Three.

Blocking is a pivotal phase where the director and cast work collaboratively to establish the physical movements and stage positions for each scene. Over the past semester, our talented cast, dedicated crew members and creative team have been hard at work, pouring their passion into every moment of Frozen Jr.

The stage adaptation of the beloved Disney film tells the story of sisters Anna and Elsa who discover the true meaning of love and family as they navigate the many challenges of Elsa's magical powers. Through their adventures, they learn about bravery, self-acceptance and the enduring bond between siblings.

As we move forward, the cast and crew will be focusing on a secret small showcase in Week 9 and fine-tuning their performances, working with elaborate props and costumes, polishing their delivery and perfecting every aspect of the production. We are getting excited! Mark your calendar now, as we are thrilled to bring you this incredible performance. Get ready to laugh, cheer, and perhaps shed a tear or two as we embark on this magical journey together!

Dance Group showcase

We are excited to share the success of the recent Year 10 Dance group assessments in which our talented students demonstrated their technical skills and highlighted their ability to engage with complex societal issues through the art of dance.

The students have worked over the past months investing countless hours in rehearsals and the creative process. Their commitment was evident in each performance, reflecting their passion to convey powerful messages through movement.

The following are the three standout pieces from the assessments:

Faciety: This contemporary jazz fusion piece explored the cyclical nature of seeking acceptance. The dancers conveyed the emotional highs and lows associated with this universal human experience. Through their dynamic movements and expressive choreography, they invited the audience to reflect on the constant quest for validation and belonging.

Overlooked: A contemporary lyrical piece that addressed the impact of masculinity assumptions in the workplace, this performance used fluid and emotive movements to highlight the unseen struggles faced by individuals due to gender stereotypes - encouraging viewers to question and challenge pervasive societal norms.

Watched: Another contemporary lyrical piece that delved into the stereotypes placed on women and the public reactions to such labels, the dancers' powerful and nuanced performances shed light on the pressures and judgments women encounter daily. This piece sparked important conversations about gender and societal expectations.

The creative processes behind these pieces were as impressive as the performances themselves. Students engaged in thoughtful discussions, extensive research and brainstorming sessions to ensure their choreography was meaningful and impactful. Their ability to translate complex ideas into compelling dance pieces is a testament to their artistic maturity and dedication.

Thank you to everyone who supported and encouraged our students throughout this journey.
