What an amazing day we had at the Inaugural Lok Lok VS Kanyul Aths event. The students had an absolute ball and it was so awesome to see the team spirit, passion and resilience on display!
A huge thank you for the amazing parent turnout and to all those who volunteered on the day. Another big thank you to Morgann Jade Photography for the spectacular snaps.
Congratulations to the Kanyul Kangaroos on being the first winners of the Athletics shield!
Students will have now come home with their Lok-Lok or Kanyul iron-on name labels. These can be ironed onto students' polos, underneath the Ceres logo. It's great to see some students already wearing theirs!

Well... we didn't get the result we were after... but what a fun day we had on our first ever school athletics day! The Lok Lok students showed amazing passion, sportsmanship and determination out at the chilly Goldsworthy Reserve.
Whilst we went down in the overall points total, we did celebrate a big win in the 'Staff Relay' which was a big highlight of the day!
Whilst all students did an amazing job, some of our young Lok Lok students really stood out with their resilience and skills across numerous events! The dashing Vada H showed some blistering pace on the track whilst the huge hops of both Edward S and Spencer F have them destined for future Olympic duties!
Also, a big shout out to Baxter, Isaac and Emily Hansford for coming to the rescue in the staff relay race!
We can't wait for the next Aths day already and we will no doubt be raising the shield next time! House footy is fast approaching in the first week of Term 3 and we'll be ready!
Remember, Eagles Soar as One!

“Press from the Pouch”
As we race to the end of Term 2 in 2024, the unstoppable Kanyul Kangaroos are jumping towards some thrilling achievements! After successfully participating in recent events such as Big Freeze, incursions, excursions and an Author visit, the young Roos have been shining brightly with our core values of encouragement, respect, teamwork, and risk-taking.But nothing could prepare us for the success that was our first ever Ceres Athletics Carnival, topped off only by you guessed it… A win for the mighty Kanyul Kangaroos over our rivals: the Lok Lok Eagles. The inaugural championship and perpetual trophy will be ours for the keeping for the next 12 months. Not even a recent change to our name could slow us down, but more on that later.
Let’s hear from some of our victorious squad members, who were thrilled to catch up with this masthead’s edition of Press from the Pouch after their debut success. Cooper from Grade 3 reflected on the whole experience by stating, “On the 14th of June Friday we went to athletics.I’m in Kangaroos and we won. It was so much fun. My favourite part was the long jump and the most challenging part was the 200m. It was so nice I loved it”.Terrific attitude from one of our up and coming leaders, well done Cooper! Sienna in Grade 4 couldn’t speak highly enough of the entire day and wanted to say a big thanks to Mrs Sanders and Mr M for all their hard work in making the day possible. She shared with us that her “highlight at school athletics was everything! I had so much fun and Kanyul Kangaroos WON!!! It was so exciting”.Needless to say, this was the theme as our proud house was buzzing after a fantastic day and bounced out the gate last Friday afternoon. Results aside, we would also like to congratulate our friends at Lok Lok on a terrific first Aths carnival. All of the Eagles demonstrated outstanding encouragement, positivity and Best Effort in the nail biting competition which could’ve gone either way. This is a very friendly rivalry that we are keen to continue going forward. Well done Lok Lok!
Looking ahead to the coming weeks, we’re excited about a big finish to Term 2 before a well- earned break for the school holidays! Week 11 is sure to be a big one and we are nearly at the finish line so keep working hard and look after one another. With Term 3 and other fantastic events on the horizon, we can’t wait to see our students thrive as they continue to build passion and community involvement. Keep it up, Kangaroos!
