Winter Holidays, WOOHOO!

Term 2 is almost over and what a big term it has been! Across the school there have been so many wonderful activities and experiences for the children both in class and special events. Behind the scenes the staff have been very busy with all of their daily responsibilities, as well as putting in heaps of effort to organise and run everything. On top of that the staff have had to write reports. I think for many of them and perhaps some of you, term 2 has felt like running a marathon.

With a bit over a week to go, the holidays are drawing near. Lately, I have been encouraged by some close friends and different podcasts, to reflect on the rhythms in my life that I practise. For instance, do I take time to rest, to spend intentional time with my husband and my children, etc. Time always seems to go by so quickly, especially the older we get, it's easy to feel there just isn't enough time to do everything we have to do let alone what we want to do. I feel very privileged in my role at BPS to have the time to spend with people listening to what is on their minds, issues they may be dealing with etc. Sometimes the kids I sit with share about how much they wish they had more time with their parents. Staff will sometimes share about the lack of time they have to get things done.

Time is such a unique commodity, you can't buy it and you can't control it, as humans we have a love/hate relationship with it. It is a challenge for all of us to stop and reflect on how we spend our time, how much time to I spend on screens for instance, and are the rhythms of our lives making the best use of the time we have. It is my hope these coming holidays that as parents we intentionally invest in time with our children, they truly value time with us, it feeds them emotionally and strengthens our relationships. It's easy to prioritise our time to other things, or let other things steal our time. Lets value time as a rich investment and spend it wisely. Happy holidays everyone!
