Upper Primary Learning

UPA

UPA has had a fabulous term! While the beginning of the term brought some challenges due to a change in teacher and ES staff, UPA students demonstrated great resilience and adaptability.

This term, we focused on how to keep our bodies healthy. All students thoroughly enjoyed the wide range of activities, particularly the Mad Food Science incursion and the excursion to Inflatable World.

A topic that sparked particular interest was the concept of germs and how we can prevent their spread, such as through proper handwashing. To explore this further, students had the opportunity to use microscopes to observe various germs and other organisms up close.

It has been wonderful to see UPA so engaged and curious throughout the term.

UPB

UPB students have had a great term, engaging enthusiastically in their learning. Highlights included recognising important events such as Reconciliation Week, and exploring how food, hygiene, and physical activity support health.

A big highlight was the ‘Mad Food Science’ incursion, where students investigated the nutritional value of fruits and vegetables. They also enjoyed an excursion to Inflatable World, putting their fitness to the test while learning about the benefits of physical activity.

In Mathematics, students focused on building their skills in Place Value.

Overall, it’s been a productive term filled with meaningful learning and memorable experiences.

UPC

UPC has been full steam ahead in Term 2!

We have been deep diving into our Inquiry Unit on Amazing Bodies, and learning all about what our bodies are, how we fuel them and how we keep them healthy.

Students have also been working hard in Maths to practice and develop new strategies in the areas of counting and place value. This has seen us engage in lots of hands-on activities and group games.

It’s been wonderful to see so much fantastic learning and growth take place!

UPD

The students in UPD have completed an excellent term’s work by actively engaging in their learning. There have been many stand-out moments along the way, such as recognising important days such as ANZAC Day and Reconciliation Week.

This term, the students have focused on learning about how our bodies use and store energy. They have read informative texts to learn about the relationship between the foods we eat and how they help to keep our body healthy. They have also explored how germs and personal hygiene also play an important part in keeping us fit and healthy.

A special highlight was our incursion ‘Mad Food Science’ where the students investigated a rainbow of fruit and vegetables and their nutritional value. The students were excited to go on an excursion to Inflatable World to practise jumping, climbing and navigating obstacles. They investigated how physical activity and being active can boost fitness and build strength.

In Maths, the students have been developing and consolidating their Numeracy skills by focusing on the area of Place Value.

All in all, it has been a productive term, full of meaningful experiences. The students can be commended for their hard work and diligence this term.

UPE

This term in UPE, students have continued to develop a broad range of important skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, and resilience. They have also focused on strengthening positive connections with peers and exploring various forms of communication to support collaboration and social development. Alongside these personal and interpersonal skills, students have engaged in academic learning across literacy, numeracy, and our discovery unit, deepening their understanding through hands-on experiences and inquiry-based tasks.

This term, UPE has been investigating The Amazing Human Body, exploring how it functions and the ways we can keep it healthy. To enrich their understanding, students participated in a hands-on incursion focused on healthy eating, as well as an engaging excursion to Inflatable World. These experiences provided valuable opportunities for students to make real-world connections to their classroom learning, reinforcing key concepts through physical activity in an enjoyable and meaningful context.

It’s been a fantastic term full of learning, growth, and enthusiasm, bring on Semester 2!

UPF

UPF has had a wonderful term of learning, exploring new tasks and working hard each day. We’ve been learning how to work as a team, support each other and show respect.

With so much time spent together, we also worked on how to be kind and thoughtful in our words and actions. We’re so proud of the growth we’re seeing in each student.

We say good-bye to Max, who says that he’ll miss playing footy with his mates each day.

UPG

This term, I had the pleasure of stepping in as UPG’s classroom teacher, supported by our wonderful Education Support staff member, Bec. It has been so rewarding to see how well the students have adjusted to the change and how quickly they’ve settled into their routines.

There has been fantastic progress across Literacy, Numeracy and Writing and it has been a joy watching the students build confidence and skills in these areas.

Our class picnics have been a highlight, offering students time to connect, chat and enjoy the outdoors together.

Our Discovery Unit focus has been “Looking After Our Amazing Body”, where students explored the importance of being active, staying clean, eating healthy foods and understanding how these choices help our overall wellbeing. The students have shown great curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the unit.

I am so proud of the resilience and growth the students have shown this term and I am excited to continue learning together in Term 3.

Some highlights for our students included the Mad Food Science Incursion, learning about how we should aim to eat a rainbow of foods. As well as jumping and bouncing around at the Inflatable World Excursion. Who knew exercise could be that much fun!?

UPH students have continued to show enthusiasm in their learning, as well as getting to know each other and building some new connections. In Numeracy, UPH students have been developing and consolidating their skills by focusing on the area of Place Value. UPH students can be commended for their efforts in their weekly Numeracy sessions.

It has been an extremely busy yet productive term for UPH. The students can be commended for their hard work and giving their personal best each week.

Enjoy the well earned break UPH!
