Library News

Next week our school chess team will play in the second round match of the annual New South Wales Junior Chess League Country Knockout against Scone Grammar School. We wish our team all the best!

The Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) enables participants to experience quality literature from a range of authors and genres. Students need to read twenty books, including at least ten books from the prescribed PRC reading lists. Combined with the DEAR program, the PRC provides a great platform for improving literacy skills. Please email Mr Boyce on andrew.boyce@mn.catholic.edu.au if you wish to register.

Library staff are available to help students select titles for the PRC and DEAR programs. Our library stocks a range of fiction and non-fiction titles catering to syllabus requirements and student interest. Apart from books, the library offers information literacy classes to help students develop their research skills. Furthermore, we look forward to providing a range of innovative programs and services over the course of the year.

NRL Footy Tips need to be submitted into the library by 3.15pm on Thursday afternoons or emailed before the first game of the round kicks off. The competition is gaining popularity, with more participants signing up this year. After nine rounds two competitors are sharing the top spot on 45 points. A leaderboard is available for viewing in the junior fiction area of the library.

Archer P has displayed the skills learnt in his Visual Arts class. Inspired by the Minecraft learning platform Archer has drawn a villager with robotic arms and a backpack. Archer stated that “he would like to draw more Minecraft mobs and hopefully get them incorporated into the game.”
