Principal's Update

Term 2 has commenced on a positive note with most students settling back into their routines. With the colder weather and the need to wear more layers, students are being reminded to ensure that they are wearing full, correct uniform. If you would like to find out more about uniforms, please visit the college website or contact Kylie Wandmaker on 03 5127 9200.
Being in class, to ensure continuity of learning is crucial and, therefore, I would like to remind all students and families about the importance of attendance. Families can find additional information about the importance of attending school and ways to support your student to go to school via this following link: https://www.vic.gov.au/attendance-and-missing-school
Additionally, please reach out to your child’s Mini School Team if you would like further support with making sure that your child attends school.
A couple of events have already occurred this term:
Year 11 VCE Camp – 30th April – 2nd May
Our Year 11 students had the opportunity to participate in a highly engaging experience for 3 days in Melbourne. This event was organised by the Careers Team. Students visited universities and explored future study and career opportunities in addition to team building and social interactions with their peers.
Year 5/6 Open Day and Information Night – 30th April
Our Junior School Team has been busy planning and coordinating events in readiness for the Grade 5/6 Transition Program. The Open Day was well attended with over 400 students and teachers from our local primary schools in attendance as was the Lowanna College Information Night which showcased the college and the programs in an engaging and positive light.
Finally, Adam Hogan has had the opportunity to extend his time working with the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership for a further 12 months. I am excited to share that my position as Acting College Principal has been endorsed by the Department of Education to be extended until August 2026. I am looking forward to continuing at Lowanna College and working with the whole community to sustain our culture of high expectations.
