If families need any information or help with uniform, please visit our hub.
Bairnsdale Secondary College held a ceremony on Thursday the 24th April to remember and reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and spirit of the Australian and New Zealand service men and women, past and present. The ceremony was led by our College Captains and they were supported by David Lewien from the Bairnsdale RSL, Mathew and the Bairnsdale Army Cadets 313th Cadet unit and the Bairnsdale Secondary College Senior Band. Congratulations to everyone involved it was a very moving ceremony.
On Thursday our Year 11 students held their annual Market Day, there was over 20 stalls selling brownie slice, cookie ice cream sandwiches, hamburgers, hot chips, hot dogs, cup cakes, slime and Tanghulu (a Chinese candied treat). Congratulations to our 2025 recipients of the Arthur Grassby Scholarship, Jami, Mackenzy and Emily.
The Arthur Grassby Scholarship offers East Gippsland Year 11 students the life-changing opportunity to trek the historic Kokoda Trail. Following in the footsteps of the brave soldiers of the 39th and 2/14th Battalions—many of whom were Gippslanders—scholarship recipients experience firsthand the challenges faced by those who fought for our freedom. This journey is more than a trek; it’s a pilgrimage, a tribute to sacrifice, a lesson in resilience, and a path to personal growth.
Jami, Mackenzy and Emily will participate in the Kokoda trek in the July school holidays. Good luck with the training. Well done to you all. We are very proud!
The Smith Family held a Job Jump event in the BARC last term. Students from Year 9 and 10 attended this event. Students were broken into small groups to chat with local industries and explore future pathway opportunities.
