Anzac Day - Lest We Forget

Bairnsdale Secondary College held a ceremony on Thursday the 24th April to remember and reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and spirit of the Australian and New Zealand service men and women, past and present.  Our Year 9 Humanities classes attended this ceremony and we are very proud of the respect and pride that they demonstrated throughout the service.

Friday ANZAC Day Service

On Friday, 25th April, Year 9 student Java proudly represented Bairnsdale Secondary College at the ANZAC Commemoration March in Bairnsdale. Java read the poem 'A Thousand Men are Walking' written by Joshua Dyer, and we are all incredibly proud of her. She was a wonderful ambassador for our College, and her contribution was truly appreciated.

Morrisby Profiling (My Career Insights Program)

My Career Insights is a program for all Year 9 students in government secondary schools. Year 9 students will have the opportunity to be involved in Morrisby program during their English lesson next week. Morrisby requires students to complete a series of questions and quizzes about what skills and abilities they could bring to a job, find out about what jobs match their abilities, interest and personality, and the subjects they will need for those jobs.

The students will then be able to partake in a 30-minute follow up session with a qualified career consultant at the school, a few weeks after the online profile is complete, which parents are welcome to attend if possible. Dates and time slots for these will be coming up closer to the date, if you have a preferred time if you are wanting to attend, please contact the hub and let us know.

We are seeking the return of consent forms (on the Compass news feed, due back Friday May 2nd) for students to complete the entire profile, we will also be making calls until the end of the week to gain verbal consent if the forms are not received.

Extra information about the program can be found on the ACCE website:

Consent forms can be found on your Compass newsfeed or by clicking on the attachment below.
