From the Principal's Desk...

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Mother's Day

It was wonderful to see so many mums, grandmothers and other significant adults at our Mother's Day Breakfast last Thursday. Thank you to the staff who organised the event, Year One and Two families who generously brought plates of food and Mrs Brennan for the beautiful floral display.

Well done to the Year One students and teachers for leading the school community in our Mother's Day Liturgy. They did a fantastic job at reading in front of the whole school. Mr Navarro and the school choir also needs to be congratulated for the awesome music at the liturgy. It is great to see so many of our students developing their passion for music!

Thank you to our P&F for organising the Mother's Day Raffle and Mother's Day Stall. There were lots of excited children purchasing items from the stall - hopefully lots of Mums were spoilt on Sunday!

Interschool Swimming Team

Congratulations to our Interschool Swimming Team who competed in the 2025 CPSSA B Division Carnival last Friday. Our students displayed excellent sportsmanship and proudly represented their team. Congratulations to the squad who can 4th overall which was a brilliant achievement.

A big thank you to Mr McCormack for coaching the Swimming Squad and Mrs Johnson and Mrs De Carvalho for their assistance at the early morning trainings and the carnival.

Prayers for our First Communicants

Our Year Four students are preparing to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time. Tomorrow they will visit St Helena of the Holy Cross church for Reconciliation and a church tour by Fr Bona. On Saturday and Sunday the first of our communicants will receive their First Holy Communion, with some more students receiving the Sacrament for the first time the following weekend.  Please remember to keep them in your prayers as they receive Jesus for the very first time!

Winter Carnival

Best of luck to our Year Six students as they compete in their Winter Carnival next Monday. The students will participate in Football, Soccer or Netball. Thanks to the parents who have volunteered to coach a team - events like this can not run without parent/family assistance and we are grateful for those who have put up their hand to help.

P&F Meeting - Come Along!

A reminder that our next P&F Meeting is on Monday 26 May @ 5:00pm in our Library. Come along and contribute to the ideas and events that are being planned at St Helena's Catholic Primary School for the rest of the year. Everyone is welcome, as all parents and caregivers are members of the P&F.

National Simultaneous Storytime

We love reading at St Helena's and the joy it brings to our school community. On Wednesday 21st May at 10:00am AWST St Helena's will join children from across Australia to read the picture book, The Truck Cat by Deborah Frenkel and illustrated by Danny Snell. Last year over 2.3 million people joined in reading the book together.

The Truck Cat is about a cat who lives in a truck before being separated from his human. To celebrate NSS and Truck Cat, we are inviting members of our school community to bring in a tin of cat food which will be donated to the Cat Haven. Donations can be brought to Mrs Rocca in the Library.

Thank you Mrs Rocca for organising the 2025 National Simultaneous Storytime for St Helena's Catholic Primary School.
