Year 2 Echidnas and Platypus

This term, in History and Social Sciences, Year 2 students have been focusing on the unique history of the land where Optus Stadium now stands. They have been learning about the significance of the site to the traditional custodians of the land and the events that have shaped its history. The Year 2 students learnt that the site has previously been used as a farm, sewerage works, cement works and golf course.

To bring their learning to life, the students examined aerial views and images of the real Optus Stadium. This activity allowed them to learn about the stadium's layout and modern architecture. Inspired by these images, the students then created their own stadium artwork. We are incredibly proud of the beautiful artwork they have produced.

In Term 3, we will visit the Optus Stadium site for our class excursion, allowing us to connect our classroom learning with the real thing!

Year 3 Magpies and Numbats

Year 3 has kicked off Term 2, 2025, with great enthusiasm. It's been delightful to see both the Magpies and Numbats students back and fully engaged in their learning journey.

We've been diving into a range of exciting and educational activities. In Mathematics, we've been mastering the concept of time. Using both analog clocks and digital times, we've been learning to tell time down to the hours, minutes, and seconds. Our skills in reading clocks are getting sharper every day!

In Digital Technology, we've embarked on a creative project by making our own animated iMovies with the iMotion app. This has been a fantastic opportunity to unleash our creativity while learning the fundamentals of animation. We've been storyboarding, capturing frames, and adding special effects to bring our stories to life.

In Religion, we've been learning about God's creation in relation to the earth and nature, focusing on areas in Perth. This has helped us appreciate the beauty and importance of the natural world around us and understand our role in caring for it. Caring for the earth is one of our core values at Saint Helena’s, and we are committed to fostering a sense of responsibility and stewardship in our students.

We are eagerly anticipating many more experiences that will create lasting memories of our year at St Helena’s.
