Wishing all the special women in our lives a very Happy Mother's Day! We hope you had a wonderful day and enjoyed the special Mum book the students made for you.
The mornings are getting colder and while the classroom is toasty, the wind and temperature outside is chilly!
The confusion between letters b and d can be a challenge for some children. We had loads of fun 'cementing' B b bbbbb for bubble, which of course mean using some bubbles! Big, Bright, Beautiful, Bursting Bubbles! (and some people wanted to eat them... hahahaha)
Our counting is improving every day! Students make collections and sort items into groups and count the groups. One-to-one counting is the main skill we are practising every day. We are also working on reading and ordering numbers 0-9. Some students are also working on partitioning 5.
At assembly on Monday, the class presented some of their learning from our Integrated Studies Unit: Me and my community - Identity. Below is a photo of the puppets they made of themselves. Students were very brave and each spoke to the whole school community, introducing themselves and telling the audience one thing about themselves.
We were very lucky to have a special class incursion last week, and got to meet the famous Miss Feely!! (She wanted us to call her Rachael... but we couldn't). Miss Feely brought some very cool robot cars that used sensors to detect the colour of the tile and were programmed to do a specific movement based on that tile colour. The whole class had a great time problem-solving the correct order of tiles to use on the big mat. Special thanks, Miss Kennedy, for organising this 'wheely' good incursion!!
