Do it for Dolly Day

Do it for Dolly Day!

Last week we held our annual Do it for Dolly event. Students wore blue on the day to show their support for this very important cause. In addition, blue butterflies were put up around the school, on which students had made their commitments to stand up against bullying.

Students also showed their support by placing a blue handprint on a Do it for Dolly canvas, which will be displayed in the school as an ongoing sign of their commitment. In the morning teachers provided students in check in with information about bullying and how they can stand together against it. At lunch, music played in the courtyard, students made bracelets and had their faces painted with butterflies, alongside the sale of cupcakes to raise funds. A great day was had by all, while providing an opportunity to have a healthy discussion around bullying and to take a stand against unacceptable behaviours.

The cupcakes sold on the day were baked by the SRC, raising funds for the Dolly’s Dream foundation. The school was able to raise $328.00, which will all be donated to the foundation. Every dollar raised goes towards their vital anti-bullying and support programs that empower kids, parents, and communities to stand up to bullying and its devastating effects.

A huge shout out to all that put in the hard work to get this event together, it is because of your great work that events like this can come to fruition. Keep up the great work!
