2025 School Council

Dear Parents,

At our last school council meeting, council was very pleased to take onboard the thoughts and opinions of our Junior School Council who had suggested some improvements to our play areas outside. As you will know, we had a new shade sail installed late last year and we removed some old table tennis tables from that area. You may also know we have recently commenced our Chess Club at lunchtimes which is proving very popular.

These two things combined have led us to install the following , either under the shade sail itself, or nearby:

  • 2 giant chessboards

  • three-way hopscotch

  • snakes and ladders

  • What's the time Mr. Wolf

  • two four-square courts and

  • Target games on the gym wall

These items will be installed during our upcoming pupil free day ready for use before the end of the term. A big thank you to the Junior School Council for their input and ideas in making our yard even more engaging for everyone. Stay tuned for some photos once they have been installed.

In earlier newsletters, we had been introducing parent members of our school council. The final parent member of our council to introduce is Giovanna.

"My name is Giovanna and I have two children at Mackellar PS. Our eldest child is in Grade 5 and our youngest in grade 2. Throughout our time at Mackellar, I’ve had the chance to get to know the staff and some members of the school community. I enjoy volunteering at the canteen, Mothers’/Fathers’ Day Stalls, and in various school events whenever I can.

Being a member of the school council allows me to share my ideas and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the school. It’s been rewarding to offer a parent’s perspective. As a family, we love cooking, shopping, watching movies, and taking part in community events, festivals, and other fun activities. Thank you!"

Take care,
