Year 5

Do It For Dolly Day: Year 5 Students Reflect on Kindness and Bullying

On Friday, May 9, our Year 5 students participated in Do It For Dolly Day, a national initiative dedicated to promoting kindness and standing against bullying. This day honours the memory of Dolly Everett, whose family established Dolly's Dream to prevent bullying and cyberbullying, and to foster a culture of kindness and support among young people.

In class, students engaged in meaningful discussions about the different forms of bullying—physical, verbal, social, and cyber—and their profound impacts on individuals and communities. Students demonstrated empathy and a deep understanding of the importance of standing up against unkind behavior.

To embody the spirit of the day, students wore blue, Dolly's favorite colour, and created blue butterflies in her honour. These activities not only honoured Dolly's memory but also reinforced the values of empathy, respect, and inclusivity within our school community.

Together, by fostering open communication and promoting kindness, we can create a safer and more supportive environment for all our children.
