A Message from the Principal
Together We Learn, Together We Flourish
A Wonderful Start to the School Year
It has been a great start to the academic year and it has been a joy to see how quickly our students have settled back into their learning routines. Classrooms are calm, focused and full of positive energy. It is wonderful to see students reconnecting with their teachers, friends and learning.
Our Kindergarten students, in particular, have settled in extremely well—it already feels as though they have been at school for a long time, such is their confidence and readiness to learn.
This week, we also commenced putting our Homework Policy into place. Homework plays an important role in reinforcing learning, building responsibility and developing good learning habits. As partners in your child’s learning, it is important that we work together to ensure students follow through and complete their homework tasks consistently and to the best of their ability. Your support at home makes a real difference.
I would also like to take a moment to share an important reminder with families. After holiday breaks, it’s not uncommon for some students to return having picked up language that is not appropriate for school or for one another. Children learn by modelling what they hear and see around them—both from adults and from the media they consume. We ask for your support in speaking with your children about using respectful and appropriate language and in continuing to model this in our own conversations as adults. Together, we can help ensure our school remains a safe, respectful and positive place for everyone.
As I mentioned in the last newsletter, our theme for 2026, “Together we learn. Together we flourish,” reflects the teachings of Pope Leo, who calls us to have the courage to build bridges where the world raises up boundaries. This theme reminds us that growth, learning and community are built together—through kindness, respect and shared responsibility.
Tomorrow, we will celebrate our Opening School Mass, where we will ask God’s blessing for the year ahead. This is a beautiful way to begin our year—coming together as a faith community, giving thanks and placing our students, staff and families in God’s care as we look forward to all that lies ahead. I look forward to seeing you at our first mass for the year.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and partnership.
Kind regards,
Grace
