Principal's Message
Mrs Kylie Bryant - Principal
It is hard to believe that we are halfway through the term already. As always the weeks fly by and it seems we continue to squeeze more and more into them. Last week the P&C had their first meeting of the year. We live in an age where volunteering is challenging to find time for, and I’d like to thank those members of the community who give their time to be part of our P&C. Joining the P&C is a great way to get involved in our school, meet people and feel a greater connection to our school community. The P&C play an important role in working alongside the school, providing feedback and a voice for the community, working on key projects together, fundraising for community led projects that provide resources to the school as well as creating community events. The first of these major events being the Play and Popsicle afternoon which was a huge success, with many asking if it was going to be a regular occurrence. It was wonderful to see so many families staying after school and taking the opportunity to connect. I want to take a moment to thank the P&C and our community for the new library furniture. It looks great and we have had so many positive comments already from students, staff, parents and visiting educators over the last 5 weeks. I look forward to working with the P&C on their next project that provides improved facilities, activities or opportunities for our students.
This year, as part of our School Excellence Plan, we will have a focus on getting involved at Roselea with the hashtag #getinvolvedatRoselea. This term we will introduce ways for our parents and carers to be more involved across the school. Building and strengthening our connections will be a focus not only in 2026 but in the years to come as we enter our new school excellence plan cycle from 2027. You will have seen we introduced our Community Connectors Program that will lead the way in further strengthening communication and connections between home and school. This will work in addition to the great work our P&C do and allow further opportunities for families to provide feedback and get involved in different ways. The forms for this program closed last week and we will be establishing groups shortly, so please watch out for new information coming your way.
This year we will host in partnership with P&C a Carols by Candlelight and Christmas Market on Friday 27th November - all students will perform along with our band, dance groups and choir. If you have a business that might like to sell food, drinks or products at our Christmas Market, please reach out to the school. #getinvolvedatRoselea.
After great engagement and student feedback, Genius Hour will take place in Terms 2 and 3. We have invited our Year 6 students to put in an expression of interest if they believe they have the talent to lead a Genius Hour group this year with teacher support. At our Meet the Teacher sessions your child’s teacher shared a survey for all parents to complete. If you have not completed this yet, please take a moment to do so as it is your opportunity to give feedback on which area/s you believe your child displays potential/talent. You can access that survey here.
At primary school, it’s important for children to have a chance to share their thoughts, ideas, and feelings. When students are encouraged to speak up and contribute, they feel more valued and confident. This helps them develop important skills like communication, decision-making, and responsibility. Listening to student voices also helps teachers understand what children need and enjoy, making learning more meaningful and fun. By involving students in their education, we help build a positive school community where every child feels heard and supported. This year as a school we are looking at ways to increase and share student voice and have students more involved in decision making. #getinvolvedatRoselea. Some of the ways we are doing this include:
All of these will form part of our 2026 School Plan which we will officially share with you at the end of the term.
As a school we are excited about the year ahead and hope to see everyone involved and engaged in school life.

Attendance
Education for your child is important and regular attendance at school is essential for your child to achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options. NSW public schools work in partnership with parents to encourage and support the regular attendance of children and young people. When your child attends school every day, learning becomes easier and your child will build and maintain friendships with other children.
Last week any student whose attendance is less than 85% will have received a letter via email informing parents and carers of our concerns for their child's attendance. It highlighted the number of days your child has been absent and encouraged you to speak with us about any ongoing concerns and issues preventing your child from attending school. We encourage you to work with your child’s class teacher and develop a plan to support your child’s attendance at school.
