Congratulations to all the students that made their First Holy Communion this term. May God, who brought you to this special day continue to direct your life in his perfect way.
Vincent de Paul was born in the small southern French village of Pouy – later renamed Saint Vincent de Paul in his honour – on 24 April 1581. He was ordained as a priest in 1600 at the age of 19.
As a young man, he ministered to the wealthy and powerful. However, an appointment as chaplain to a poor parish and to galley prisoners, inspired him to work with the poor, those most marginalised and powerless.
Vincent urged his followers to bring God’s justice and love to people who were unable to live a full human life:
“‘Deal with the most urgent needs. Organise charity so that it is more efficient…teach reading and writing, educate with the aim of giving each the means of self-support. Intervene with authorities to obtain reforms in structure… there is no charity without justice”.
October is known as the month of the Rosary. We honour our Blessed Mother because she taught us to pray the rosary to become closer to Her and God. The rosary is a very important prayer tool. Each bead on the rosary represents different prayers. We say the Apostles’ Creed, Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be to the Father and Hail Holy Queen as we pray the rosary.
The month of October is a great time to commit to praying the rosary every day.
October 7th is the memorial of The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.

Ignite Conference 23 - Wonder – a National Catholic Conference for people of all ages to experience real world formation, powerful worship and encouragement in their Catholic faith in an exciting, and ground-breaking way.
We all need an opportunity to meet our God of wonders. At this time when our world is so full of fear, uncertainty and powerlessness, we desperately need the God of wonders to remind us of all that is good and true; that Jesus is present and powerful and able to move mountains in our lives.
Ignite Conference is a chance to meet the God of wonders, to encounter Jesus for the first time or the hundredth time. It’s a rare opportunity to gather as a people of faith from around the country.
A line-up of speakers and artists will be joining the expanding Ignite family this year in Sydney. It will be hosted in the Diocese of Broken Bay and reunite the Catholic family and friends in Greater Sydney! The Church in Australia will be led by a wonder-filled generation ready to transform all around them into colour and light.
If you haven’t been to Ignite Conference yet, this is your time. Come along for four days of unforgettable Catholic worship, speakers, creativity, sacraments and workshops. Let’s invite the Holy Spirit to breathe WONDER into our lives, Church and nation together!
Find out everything you need to know about coming along, bringing a friend or bringing a whole group at igniteconference.com.au.
