News From Mr Smith

Dear School Community Members,

Swimming Program: Following the huge success of the Grade 3 and Grade 4 swimming program this week, our Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 swimming program commences next week. Considering the limited swimming opportunities over the last three years, our Grade 3 and Grade 4 students are making great progress. I acknowledge Mr Quinlan, Jessie Burney and our staff for their dedication in coordinating a highly effective program.

Transition Program: Yesterday we welcomed our 2024 Prep students and their families to Manifold Heights Primary School for their first transition session. We are very excited to have these students and their families join our community. I am very confident each student and their family will enjoy a wonderful relationship and journey at Mano. We look forward to seeing them again at our next transition session on Friday 10th November, 9:30am-11am.

Mano Colour Run – Friday 10th November: As communicated last week, planning for our Colour Run is in full swing! On Friday 10th November, our students will engage in a fun afternoon with a Colour Run thanks to our wonderful Parents and Friends Committee. Details regarding our Colour Run were sent home last week – thank you to the many families who have registered their child and begun fundraising. A reminder that all money raised from the Colour Run will fund our replacement playground program.

Referendum Polling Booth: Thank you to the many families who have got behind our Parents and Friends Committee and supported our Referendum Polling Booth BBQ and Cake Stall, especially those volunteering their time on the day. The more cakes and slices we have to sell, the more funds will be raised for our replacement playground program. Plates, labels, ties and instructions were sent home with the eldest in the family last week.We would really appreciate your contribution of a plate or two of cakes for this fundraiser.  If you would like additional plates, please collect them from the Office.  For health and safety purposes it is important that contributions are only put on the cake plates provided and appropriately labelled with ingredients/allergy notes. We are asking for filled cake plates to be delivered to the Canteen between 3pm and 4:30pm on Friday 13th October.

Thank you for your support with this fundraiser.

Safety – Parking at Drop off and Pick Up: Recently we have had families report dangerous driving behaviour, especially in Purrumbete Ave. Parking on or encroaching the pavement or footpath does compromise the safety of our students.

Local By-Law Officers will be present over the coming weeks to monitor our school surrounds at ‘pick up’ and ‘drop off’ times.

Let’s all work together to maximise the safety of our community.

Thank you for supporting our school and have a great week.
