Co-curricular - Junior Sport

It was great to see all the boys out training last week and taking to the fields and courts for the resumption of the Summer season. On what can only be described as a glorious day for sport, Saturday 14 October supplied a mixed bag of results for the Junor School boys. While the results may not have gone all our way, the boys could not be faulted on their efforts and sportsmanship. The results will come with training, but the effort and sportsmanship come from within, and all our boys should be proud of themselves for this. Good luck for Round 8, boys.

With Summer quickly approaching and the warmer weather hitting a little earlier this year, boys are reminded to bring their drink bottles out to PE lessons and to make sure they are wearing their black caps at PE, Recess and Lunch. All boys should also consider using sunscreen during the day, especially when swimming for PE. The use of rash shirts is encouraged; however, they should be plain black, blue, or white.

The College is a very busy place, and it seems like there is always something on. In the Junior School, the boys are always looking to push their limits and explore new opportunities. Over the weekend, two students travelled to different parts of the country to compete in porting competitions.

Benjamin Conti (Year 6), travelled up to Coffs Harbor to compete in the State Cup for Oz-Tag. Benjamin and his team enjoyed much success in the tournament. Unfortunately, his team were knocked out in the quarter finals by a team that had gone through undefeated. Congratulations to Benjamin and his team mates on a successful time at the tournament.

Ethan Banaghan made a quick trip over to Western Australia over the weekend to compete in the National Titles Championships for Taekwondo. Ethan had a very good championship, winning the Gold medal in the Black Belt division for his weight division. This is an outstanding result and a reward for all the hours Ethan puts into his training.

I know that you will join me in congratulating both these boys on these marvellous achievements.

Shortly, boys in Year 5 will receive a survey to nominate their Summer sports for 2024. Boys should discuss with their parents/carers what they would like to sign up for prior to submitting their surveys. These surveys will help in the planning of trials for Term 1 next year. Boys in the current Year 6 cohort will meet with Mr Fochesato to discuss how Co-curricular activities run in the Senior School before they receive their Co-curricular forms for Year 7.

I look forward to seeing the boys out again this weekend, once again putting their best foot forward in representing the College.
