Summer Sport

After a sunny Saturday on the weekend, we witnessed several RHBL Baseball and NDJCA Cricket fixtures take place. The First XI and Second XI Cricket teams had a solid hit out against one another.

The First V Basketball began their season last weekend with the ISA Preseason Challenge at Blue Mountains Grammar. The First V won their Pool and faced St Augustine’s College in the final. In a face paced match, St Augustine’s College would prove too strong beating our boys 34 – 15. The day provided some much-needed competition leading into the first round against Redlands School this weekend. I would encourage as many boys to come to the College Gymnasium and support the First V who will commence their fixture at 11:00 AM.

The Second XI Cricket sides will commence their seasons with road trips to Bowral to play Chevalier College, while the First XI will welcome Central Coast Grammar School to play at Breen Oval.

This Saturday will see a full round of fixtures for all summer sports teams including Touch Football teams and Golf.

Good luck to all.

Reminder of Training and Fixture Expectations

I wish to emphasise the importance and need for the community to download the new College app to ensure you are up to date with all relevant Co-curricular sport items.

To ensure you are only receiving notifications which are relevant to you or your son, on the home page of the app click the ‘settings’ button on the bottom right corner, then select the ‘subscriptions’ option. Here you can select the ‘Co-curricular’ activities which you wish to subscribe to.

Training Policy

All boys are to attend every training session as outlined in the training schedule. Ordinarily training sessions will commence at 3:30 PM and conclude at 4:55 PM.  For some of the Senior teams, before school training will occur in the College Gymnasium. Training on a morning will commence at 7:00 AM and conclude no later than 8:15 AM.

A request to miss a training session or leave early from training should rarely occur. Should the need arise, an email should be forwarded to the Relevant MIC and myself as the Head of Sport; requesting permission well in advance.

Training plays an important role in preparing the team for a game. Training also provides the opportunity to generate team harmony and College spirit. Should a student miss a training session, he must provide his Coach/Age Co-ordinator/MIC with an explanation from a parent/carer his absence from training upon his return to school.

Students who travel home after training by public transport are to wear either their full College Sports uniform, consisting of the supporter’s shirt, black crested shorts, white socks and sandshoes (College tracksuit in colder weather) or change back into College uniform.

Fixture Policy

Students are to arrive at their game ready for warm up and no later than 30 minutes prior to game commencement.

Attendance at all Games is Compulsory

Any boy who is unable to play due to injury will attend his team’s Saturday fixture in a supportive role as a way of fulfilling his Co-curricular commitment. If a student fails to attend a Saturday fixture, upon his return to school, he must provide the MIC with a medical certificate explaining his absence from the fixture.
