Green Team News

Students from the Green Team travelled to St Kilda Town Hall to be involved in the School Sustainability Festival last Thursday 7th September, National Threatened Species Day.

The School Sustainability Festival is an annual event organised by the Port Phillip EcoCentre to provide local schools and their communities an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge their environmental and student leadership achievements.

Now in its 18th year, the School Sustainability Festival is Victoria’s longest running school sustainability festival celebrating and empowering student leadership for our environment.

Earlier in the year the Green Team made mud bricks with Laura (Mum and Green Architect) who taught the students about the benefits of building with the Earth. Mud bricks usually only require earth (or soil) and the energy of the sun, so are a very sustainable building material.

The Green Team taught other local schools a little bit about mud bricks and sustainable architecture through a student led workshop. They also participated in workshops from other schools and local experts.

The students should be very proud of their efforts and leadership.

A big thank you to Laura for coming along to the festival to help the students present their workshop.
