Art News

During Semester 2, Year 7 students have been working on collaborative mural tasks. I am proud to show you the results from Year 7C, 7D and 7E. The Artist we looked at this time was the works of Charles Blackman from his “Alice in Wonderland” series. Again, students were given a small piece of the image which they had to enlarge and copy faithfully, not knowing what the final image would reveal until we put it together at the end. They were required to use their math skills such as scale, measurement and estimation.  Art skills such as colour matching and mixing with oil pastels was required. Their knowledge in using the elements of art (colour, tone shape and form) to complete this work was applied. Students were also required to investigate the artist’s work by competing an analysis of the original painting by Chatles Blackman. These large works are proudly displayed in the art room and library.  I am very proud of everyone involved!
