Year 11 Coping Strategies Sessions
Over the last two weeks in Year 11 SWEL, the Wellbeing team have been running sessions on stress management and coping strategies.
We discussed how stress is a natural and important human response that prompts us to address challenges in our lives, however too much stress can cause overwhelm and burn out.
We discussed helpful/adaptive (towards) and unhelpful/maladaptive (away) strategies that we use to destress.
In the second session, we had multiple stations set up for students to try different strategies they can use to help cope with stress in healthy and adaptive ways. These included: music/sounds, breathing/mindfulness, reading, exercise, talking to friends, scents, and a chill out zone.
The students had fun trying and rating different activities to unwind and connect with ourselves and each other.
