A Thank You

Some of you may be aware that student involvement in the Gazette this year has seen a much appreciated boost. Credit for this must be awarded to Jascha Kahrau, our Year Twelve Prefect! She worked incredibly hard to build up regular support and involvement from multiple bodies around the school, including finding regular contributors and employing the Year 7 Ambassadors to help with research for articles.

Jascha told us: ‘I have been so privileged this year to work with such an amazing and enthusiastic team, and I am so proud of all their hard work and the many things we achieved together. Running the Gazette has been very important to me and I am so grateful for the opportunities it gave me to learn and grow.’

Jascha, we thank you for everything you did for the Gazette this year, both in casual meetings and in writing! You’ve left big shoes to fill, and we all wish luck to whoever takes over from you.

Term 3 Wrap-Up

In Term 3 we had a few events and activities going on. We had the whole school Athletics Day on the 28th of August at which almost all students participated in, and the Mullum Athletics on the 7th of September, where all of the students who made it through the whole school athletics competed with winners of other school athletics.

Then on the 14th of September, Miss Growse organized a whole load of activities for everyone to participate in on RUOK day. We had dancing in the Performing Arts Centre with Miss Growse, badminton in the stadium with Mr Yong, karaoke in the HOPE Centre with Miss Walshe, Miss Ally Vance and Mr Young and mindfulness activities in J11 with Miss Hatfield and Miss Nichol.

On the night of September 14th, we had the Music Showcase Night, where kids who were doing instrumental music lessons could show off their skills, with the Local Vocals and Glee Club getting to show off their singing as well.

Then finally, on the last day of term 3, we had the Colour Fun Run. There was a sausage sizzle and everyone had the opportunity to participate, if they wanted to, in getting chalk powder and water thrown and shot at them, and as someone who didn’t participate, it was really funny to see all the kids and teachers covered from head to toe in colour powder and water from the water guns that they were shot with.
