1S

Hello from 1S

This term in 1S we have been learning about the reading strategy of visualisation. We read and listened to a passage from a favourite book, a picture story book and drew what we saw in our minds. We had some amazing pictures completed by the students.

In Writing this term, we have been learning about different word types and sentence structures using colourful semantics. Students have been using the colours of orange for who, blue for where, yellow for what/doing, green for object and brown for when. Students brainstormed and created their own sentences using the different colours and highlighted the key words.

During Maths, we have been investigating different number patterns by finding the missing number, finding one more, one less, 10 more and 10 less. This week we also participated in the Year 1 Walkathon in order to map out our course, collect data on the number of laps we all completed and graph the results in our different teams. This was a fun way to learn different skills in Maths and get us ready for the Colour Run this Friday!

1S extends a very special thank you to all the amazing parents who helped us at swimming last week. We are very lucky to have such great support all year round.
