From the Principal
Term 4 is an exciting term with so many opportunities for parent participation and student engagement. I hope you enjoy reading this newsletter as we continue to celebrate the diverse programs we offer at Athol Road PS and the wonderful achievements of our students.
The Student Wellbeing Day, The Year 3 Sleepover, The Voices of the Choir, The STEM Expo and the National Game Design Challenge were not only a huge success but also a reflection of student participation and engagement in the many different programs in our Term 4 calendar – and it’s only Week 3!
Congratulations to the Junior and Senior Choirs for their outstanding performance at the Voices of the Choir Competition. Both choirs won high category awards with the Junior Choir winning the best overall performance and bringing home the Choir Shield!
Congratulations to the following 6 students who represented our school at Regional Athletics yesterday at Casey Fields: Ashton H, Erica H, Olivia H, Sienna H, Jordan T and Roger C. Our students competed against many highly trained students from the Southern Metropolitan Region which included some of the most prestigious private schools in Victoria. Although our students did not qualify for State level competition, they performed to their highest ability yesterday and should be proud of reaching this level of the competition. Well done, we are very proud of you!
This term we have commenced Lunchtime Clubs and they are proving to be very popular among the students. The lunchtime clubs offered this term are: Basketball, Dance, Crochet, Book Club, Mandarin, Gardening and Soccer.
We are so lucky to have so many teachers and staff who plan and deliver an interesting variety of lunchtime clubs which strongly consider student voice and choice.
Look out for some more Lunchtime Club news in our upcoming newsletters!
A reminder to all parents/carers with pre-school children. If your pre-schooler is not in Kindergarten on a Wednesday morning, please consider attending our Playgroup. Our Playgroup operates in our Early Learning Centre on Wednesday mornings from 9.00am – 11.00am. Attendance can be on a regular or casual basis, only costs $3.00 per session and morning tea is provided. The playgroup program focuses on the development of self- confidence, oral language and social skills. I always love to see the happy children engaging in free play. Thank you to Mei and Dana who do a great job with the children and the parents/carers who attend Playgroup.
IMPORTANT: Parents/carers of Foundation – Year 5 students only
If your child will not be returning to Athol Road PS in 2024 it is important you notify the office as soon as possible via email athol.road.ps@education.vic.gov.au or phone 9547 1224.
