Education in Faith

Faith, Family, Friendship

At Holy Spirit, we respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri people and their Elders past and present, who are the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Holy Spirit Community School is located.

A prayer for our Teachers

Today, all around the world, teachers are remembered and honoured for their years and lives of service. Happy World Teachers Day to each of our amazing teachers.

Here in our school, Holy Spirit, we join in prayer and song to give thanks for each other, and for being part of this great mission that began centuries ago.

We pray together.

God of Love,

Thank you for every teacher who notices a child’s special gift. Thank you for teachers who are listeners and gentle guides. Thank you for teachers who expect much and love enough to demand more. Thank you for the special teacher each one of us remembers.

God of Mercy,

Sustain teachers who give everything they have. Strengthen teachers who assume the blame for so many problems beyond their control. Help exhausted teachers rest.

God of Strength,

Encourage teachers to care and inspire them to nourish. Motivate teachers to keep on learning for the fun of it and to make learning enjoyable for children. We wonder at teachers who know how to quiet a class of five year olds or help fourth graders be empathetic. We admire teachers who enjoy teaching writing at school, or love to teach science or maths or history. Bless the people who are expected to accomplish these miracles and who know how to comfort children when miracles don’t happen.

God of Justice,

help and support teachers in their special calling, wherever they teach and whatever obstacles they must face.

We pray these things in the name of our great teacher, Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Mass Reminders

Our goal this year is to to create a peaceful and respectful atmosphere during our church services, ensuring that everyone can focus on their spiritual experience. To help with this, we kindly request your cooperation when entering the church:

  1. Please enter the church quietly, so as not to disturb those already in prayer or reflection. This will also encourage our students to enter our church in the same way.
  2. We encourage you to engage in quiet conversation, in designated areas outside our church, if needed.
  3. For the comfort and cleanliness of our sacred space, we kindly ask that you refrain from bringing coffee or other beverages into the church.

Your support in maintaining a serene and respectful environment is greatly appreciated. We believe that these small gestures will contribute to a more meaningful worship experience for all.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Upcoming Dates:

  • Year 3 Reconciliation: Friday 27th October
  • 1st November: All Saints Day Mass (9:15am)

Have a wonderful fortnight!

2024 Columban Calendars are available for purchase from the Church foyer.  Beautiful calendars as always and would make an ideal Christmas gift.  The calendars are $10.00 each and there is a box on the table where you can deposit the money.  Proceeds go to support the work of the St Columban’s Mission Society.

The deadline for articles for the December Edition of the Spirit Magazine is 14th November.  We missed out on publishing the September edition so we now need a “bumper” Christmas issue.  If you have any articles of interest to the school/parish community, we would love to hear from you.  You can send your articles by email to:  thespirit@holyspiritparish.org.au

The Parish will be holding a training session for the Safety of Children and Vulnerable People.  It is a requirement by the Archdiocese for all parish clergy and staff to attend yearly and volunteers every 3 years.  A group training session will be held on Thursday 23rd November at 1.00-2.30 pm in the Mary Bresnan Room.  To register your interest, contact Jacinta at ringwoodnorth@cam.org.au

Holy Spirit is a child safe Parish.  We hold the care, safety and well being of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our Parish.
