Dear Parents & Carers

It’s hard to believe we have reached the end of Week 9 and only one more week of school left this term! What another incredible term it has been for our school community too. We have had so much to celebrate including the positive learning and progress which has taken place over the term.

We have had many different visitors through the school in particular this term either working in classrooms or touring. They have all commented on what fantastic learning environments we have at St Joey’s and how respectful, friendly and welcoming our students are. This is a credit to our staff and students at St Joey’s.

School Excursions

The Stage 2 Excursion to the Yarrangobilly Caves and Tumut was a huge success. A big thank you to Mrs Hart, Miss Bond, Mrs Makeham and Mrs Puntoriero for supervising the students on the trip. Aside from the learning that went on, the students were wonderful ambassadors for our school. The learning, socialisation and fun that happens on excursions is such a valuable part of a child’s education.

We wish the Stage 3 students, Mr Pratt, Mrs Salmon and Mrs Makeham a safe and wonderful excursion to Ballarat, Bendigo and Melbourne next week from Wednesday 20th - 22nd September. I look forward to hearing all about it when they all return.

A big thank you to the teachers who organise the excursions. There are many things to consider when planning an excursion which takes time. We appreciate the efforts teachers go to in order to ensure the excursion is a great educational experience!

Parent/Family Helpers

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our parents and families for their support and help over the term. Parents and grandparents have assisted with fundraisers, events and reading just to name a few. A special thanks to Mrs Annette Sweeney who did a marvellous job of running our school canteen as a volunteer so this service can be provided to our families. Our school would not be able to function without your help and we truly appreciate your assistance.

Kinder Enrolments and Transition 2024

We are still welcoming enrolments for Kinder 2024. If you know of anyone still considering where to send their child in 2024, please encourage them to come to the school or contact the office for an enrolment form.

Our Kindergarten 2024 Transition Program will be held over four consecutive Fridays in Term 4. The children come for a full day on each of the days listed below. Parents of the prospective Kinder 2024 students will receive correspondence around this.

There will be a Parent Information Session on Friday 10th November at 8.45am, after parents drop off their children. We strongly encourage all Kinder 2024 parents to attend so they can be informed and/or ask questions around what it will look like for their children starting school the following year.

Friday 27th October, 2023: 9-3pm
Friday 3rd November, 2023: 9-3pm
Friday 10th November, 2023: 8.45-3pm

School Uniform

A reminder that next term the children will come to school in their summer uniform. This means every child MUST wear a hat. Please see the uniform listed below.

If you wish to order uniforms, please download the below order form and send through to Junee Embroidery Services via the details on the form.

Mrs Becci Brabin will have the School Uniform Pool open this Friday after assembly for parents to purchase. Thanks again Becci for all your assistance in keeping this service going for our families.

Pupil Free Day

Monday 9th October is a Pupil Free Day, however staff will be at school and the school office will be open. Students return Tuesday 10th October.

National Child Protection Week

National Child Protection Week is a great time to consider how we all play a part in creating a safe and supportive community for children and young people.

In 2023, the message that ‘Every child in every community needs a fair go’ will be complemented with the theme ‘Where we start matters’.

A great, free resource for parents/caregivers and other family members is the Australian parenting website raisingchildren.net.au. The site offers free, reliable, up-to-date and independent information to help families grow and thrive together. The articles, videos and interactive resources are tailored to different ages and stages, taking families from nurturing a newborn to raising a confident, resilient teen – and helping parents to look after themselves too.

Thank You Mrs Maloney and Mrs Salmon

Mrs Maloney and Mrs Salmon support me as part of the School Leadership Team. Whenever I am away, they step in and hold the fort along with fulfilling their other roles and teaching loads they have. I am very grateful for their assistance over the term and we are so fortunate to have them as our school leaders. Thank you Mrs Maloney and Mrs Salmon!
