Thursday 30 and Friday 31 October

This excursion is an opportunity for students to engage with their surroundings and learn valuable lessons about responsibility and the natural world. We'll be walking the Alum Cliffs track as a year group, with students arriving at Kingston Beach for lunch and some fun time on the sand. The day is designed to foster active citizenship and a sense of responsibility through activities like walking together as a group, practicing Leave No Trace principles and learning to be prepared for the outdoors. We'll also be exploring the natural and human-made systems we encounter, including local geology, ecology and history, connecting directly to the How the World Works curriculum.

Students will need to wear appropriate free dress clothing for all weather conditions and sturdy shoes for walking. This should include a warm jumper (wool, polar fleece or puffer jacket), sunhat, sunscreen and a waterproof raincoat, lunch, snacks and a water bottle. All of this equipment will need to be packed into a day backpack or their school backpack.

We will return to school by bus at 4.00pm. Back on campus we will make preparations for the overnight setup and enjoy a lovely community dinner before sleeping overnight in The Farrall Centre Auditorium.  An afternoon snack and dinner will be provided for students on Thursday and breakfast and lunch the following day. Students should bring their school uniform to change into on Friday morning.
