Year 6 Camp Speeches
🔥CANBERRA CAMP🔥
My favourite activity was when we were able to do an orienteering task at the National Arboretum of Canberra (which is a fancy way of saying special tree garden) where we had to find 25 tags that were spread across the arboretum in 20 minutes. We were then broken up into teams of 3 or 4 and went to find the tags. Finding most of the tags were difficult, so each team was given a map with locations of them.
My favourite activity was the Thai embassy (which is a building to represent a country other than Australia in Australia) where we got to learn all about Thailand like its national animal and the meaning of its flag colours, we got to learn and write the Thai alphabet and even try some delicious foods like vegetable spring rolls and coconut pudding
We also went to a place called Iplay which was kind of like time zone. We got to have 90minutes to play unlimited games with a special card like racing games, music games and so much more. Also, we got to have one go at laser tag and dodgem cars which were awesome!
A special thanks to Josh and Jason, our bus drivers for telling us all your knowledge about Canberra and for making all the bus rides funny with your jokes. Also, future grade 6’s I strongly recommend going to camp next year because you will have a blast!

During our visit to Canberra, we went to a place called the AIS which stands for the Australian Institute of Sport. When on campus, we saw a 50m swimming pool where athletes train.

Last week the Year 6 students went on our camp to Canberra. One of the things we did was get the experience of a guided tour of Parliament House. We got to look at the House of Representatives and the Senate, along with finding out facts and the history of Parliament house.

Year 4 Maths
In maths this week, Year 4 students explored measuring capacity using formal units—millilitres and litres—by engaging in hands-on activities with measuring jugs and containers. They learned to read scales accurately, including identifying unlabelled increments, and practiced recording measurements. Building on this, students then compared and ordered capacities using scaled containers, selecting appropriate tools for different volumes and applying their understanding to real-world contexts. These sessions emphasised vocabulary development, visual estimation, and ordering tasks, helping students deepen their understanding of capacity through practical and collaborative learning.
Year 1 Maths
This week, students in 1L have been learning more about 3D shapes. They consolidated their knowlege using concrete materials, finding 3D shapes in the classroom and building towers. What fun!
