Welcome back
It’s great to see everyone back for the start of a new term at Albion North. We trust you enjoyed a well-deserved break and are looking forward to the great learning opportunities this term will bring.
As the warmer weather continues, a friendly reminder that all students are required to wear a broad-brimmed school hat when outside during playtimes, sport, PE lessons, and other outdoor activities.
Wearing a hat is an important way to stay sun smart and protect ourselves from the sun’s UV rays, helping to build healthy lifelong habits. Please make sure your child’s hat is clearly labelled with their name so it can be easily returned if misplaced.
Students without a hat will need to remain in shaded areas during outdoor play.
Continuing Our SWPBS Journey at Albion North
I just wanted to take a moment to recap and share our journey so far with School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS).
Throughout Term 3, our school continued to strengthen our SWPBS, focusing on building consistent expectations and a shared language around behaviour across all areas of the school.
Teachers and students worked together to unpack our school values and identify what these look like across a range of settings, including learning spaces, outdoor areas, online environments, during transitions, and when using shared spaces such as the bathrooms. This collective work has helped create greater clarity for students and consistency among staff when recognising and reinforcing positive behaviours in all areas of school life.
A highlight of Term 3 was the introduction of our new acknowledgement system, Champion Chips! These tokens are given to students who demonstrate our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Teamwork. Students have responded to the Champion Chips with great enthusiasm, showing pride in earning them and supporting each other in positive ways.
To build on this, we launched our very first Champions Store in the last few weeks of term 3, where students could redeem their Champion Chips for prizes. The store was a huge success and created a real sense of excitement and achievement across the school. It has been wonderful to see students setting goals, saving their chips, and celebrating their positive choices.
As we move into Term 4, our next step in this journey is to introduce a fortnightly focus on expected behaviours. Every two weeks, our school will highlight one specific behaviour from our matrix. This will be introduced to students through a short slide deck on Monday morning and reinforced during playtime, and at assemblies.
The purpose of this initiative is to keep our expected behaviours alive and visible for students, helping them make positive choices and understand what being a safe, respectful, and responsible learner looks like in everyday situations. By focusing on one behaviour at a time, we can provide explicit teaching, celebrate positive examples and strengthen our whole-school culture.
You can find this fortnight’s focus listed below, which outlines the behaviour we’ll be explicitly teaching and recognising across the school.
We’re incredibly proud of how our students and staff have embraced the SWPBS journey so far. The energy, engagement, and positivity around our acknowledgements, through Champion Chips and Champions Store have been fantastic, and we look forward to continuing to celebrate and grow our positive school culture together.
