World Teachers’ Day – Friday 31 October 2025

Next Friday, 31 October, we will join schools across the Diocese of Sale and around the world in celebrating World Teachers’ Day

This special day is a time to pause and recognise the incredible dedication, professionalism and care shown every day by our teachers and staff at St Agatha’s.

Our teachers and LSOs do far more than teach – they inspire curiosity, nurture faith, and build confidence in our students to help them grow into compassionate, capable young people who live out the Gospel values. Their impact reaches far beyond the classroom, shaping lives and strengthening our whole community.

During the week leading up to World Teachers’ Day, we encourage families to take a moment to express their gratitude. DOSCEL has created a Digital Gratitude Wall (Padlet) where students, parents, and carers can post short messages, photos, or drawings of thanks to acknowledge the positive difference our teachers make every day.

👉 Share your message of thanks here:🔗 https://padlet.com/DOSCEL/world-teachers-day-2025-t2c1vx9hzpiw2vpa

We invite all members of our community to participate and celebrate our teachers and LSOs — not only on World Teachers’ Day, but every day, for the extraordinary work they do in educating, inspiring, and supporting our children. With heartfelt thanks to all our teachers and staff at St Agatha’s – your commitment and care truly make a difference.

Whole School Disco – Friday 31 October

On the same day as World Teachers’ Day, our Year 6 students will host a Whole School Disco to raise funds for their Big Day Out end-of-year celebration. This event is always a highlight of the school year and a wonderful opportunity for students to come together in fun and celebration.

While the disco coincides with Halloween, as a Catholic school, we do not celebrate Halloween. Instead, students are invited to come dressed in fun disco clothes. To support Child Safety Awareness, students are also encouraged to include a splash of red in their outfit in recognition of Day for Daniel, one of Australia’s key national initiatives promoting child safety.

We look forward to an afternoon filled with dancing, joy, and community spirit, thanks to the enthusiasm and leadership of our Year 6 students and their teachers.

Stage 3 Building Opening and Blessing

We are delighted to announce that our Stage 3 Building Project is now complete. The new facilities provide eight contemporary learning spaces that will serve our students well into the future and support our vision for engaging, flexible learning. Our year 5 and year 6 students are already enjoying the new learning spaces.

The Official Opening and Blessing will take place on Wednesday, 10 December at 11:00 am. The ceremony will include a liturgy led by Father Antony, with special guests including Mr Paul Velten, Director of Catholic Education – Diocese of Sale, members of the DOSCEL Board, and parliament representatives. If you would like to attend please rsvp to info@stacbourne.catholic no later than Wednesday 26th November, 2025.

An Inspiring Story from one of our students

A Young Boy with a Big Heart

With the warm weather back, Yuven enjoys going for walks with his mother around the estate (Quarters Estate) where he lives. On one of these walks, he decided to take a box with him. When he saw rubbish scattered across the streets, Yuven came up with his own idea: to help save the environment by collecting the rubbish and placing it in the box.

Yuven explained that his idea came from thinking about the birds and other small animals. He worried they might eat the rubbish and get hurt — or even die. “It’s not fair,” he said. “The animals don’t deserve this.”

To continue his mission, Yuven's family supported himself by getting the proper gears gloves and a trash-picking stick. Now, every day on his walks, Yuven takes his gear and picks up the litter he finds. Even though it makes him sad to see so much rubbish, he keeps going because he wants to protect the animals and show that someone cares about the environment.

Some people in the neighborhood noticed his efforts and said, “Well done — you are saving the environment.” "It's a great idea".

Yuven hopes others will join him in this small but powerful act. His message is simple: “Please help by picking up rubbish and putting it in the bin. It’s not safe for animals, and we all share this world.”

Name: Yuven Mendis

Age: 8 Years Old

School : St. Agatha's Primary School, Cranbourne

Yuven in Year 2 would like other students to join him at recess and lunch playtimes to pick up rubbish around the playgrounds to help our school. Please let Mrs Scott know in Year 2 if your child would like to help Yuven!

A Wonderful Term Ahead

Thank you for your continued support of our school community. I look forward to a term filled with learning, celebration, and connection as we continue to build a school where every child is known, valued, and loved. Please check the dates page for all upcoming events!

Warm regards,

Michelle Bruitzman
