Thank you to the parents who contributed to the Parent Survey. Below is a summary of the results that were received for each section of the survey.
What does your child like about our school?
St Francis Xavier School is overwhelmingly appreciated by parents, with the close, caring community and the amazing, dedicated teachers being the most celebrated aspects. A strong sense of belonging and safety permeates the school environment, which is frequently described as a family. Students enjoy the opportunity to build strong friendships across all year levels, and parents note significant growth in their children's confidence both academically and socially. The school’s focus on learning is highly praised; teachers are successful in making lessons fun, challenging, and engaging, with particular enjoyment noted for subjects like STEM, Art, Music, and Religion. Furthermore, the well-organised structure, routine, and diverse range of activities and events (including extracurricular offerings) contribute significantly to the positive school experience. Ultimately, many respondents summarised their child’s feeling with the simple response: "Everything."
How do you think our school is different from other schools?
Respondents overwhelmingly feel that the school is distinguished by its strong sense of community and inclusive, family-like atmosphere, which makes both students and parents feel welcome and connected. A key differentiator is the quality and dedication of the teaching staff, who are seen as excellent, passionate, and working collaboratively, genuinely caring deeply for the wellbeing of students and fostering their growth as individuals. The school's commitment to faith is also highlighted, with its teachings entwined in everyday life and activities, and its focus on demonstrating integrity and compassion. Parents appreciate that the school views children as individuals, meets them where they are at, and maintains high standards for excellence not just in academics (literacy and mathematics), but also in cultivating all-round qualities and character. Furthermore, the active involvement of parents and the regular offering of diverse activities and opportunities are noted as making the school unique.
How has the school helped (improved in helping) your child/your family to develop your faith?
The school has been highly effective in developing and enriching the faith of both students and their families, primarily by integrating religion into all aspects of learning and daily life. This approach has sparked curiosity and deeper understanding in the children, leading to more frequent faith-based conversations and prayers at home. Parents appreciate that the school reinforces the faith taught at home by emphasising Christian values and ensuring students understand how faith underscores every facet of life. Specific practices highlighted include regular Mass attendance, Rosary prayers, religious activities, and liturgies that celebrate significant events and figures in the Catholic calendar. Furthermore, the inclusion of families in school celebrations and events and the use of resources like the Faith Diary have provided valuable support for home catechesis, making the spiritual journey a shared experience.
