Foundation

It's been a very busy and exciting couple of weeks in Foundation. We have been enjoying the spring weather with lots of play outside and talking about the different seasons and weather which aligns with our Inquiry unit this term. Swimming has also been a very big hit, with travelling on the bus to the swimming pool every day and jumping in the water.
Literacy
In Literacy, we have been learning about split digraphs (i_e, and e_e) as part of our daily phonics lessons, and we have been writing sentences that include these words. We have also been continuing our work on writing weekend recounts, and we have begun writing narratives with characters, a setting and a simple problem. In Reading, we have been reading lots of fiction texts based around seasons and weather, discussing our own experiences and comparing them to events in the texts.
Numeracy
In Numeracy, we have been learning about sharing objects fairly with lots of hands-on activities to practise this. We discussed what to do if there's a 'leftover' object and how we could share it fairly, which led to some discussions around fractions.
All the students have been loving learning about the different seasons and weather, and how they impact the choices that we make in terms of our clothing and activities. There has been lots of excited discussion about what our families enjoy doing in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
