Principal's Report

Welcome Back!

Term 4 is well and truly underway here at Uralla Central as we head towards the end of the school year. I trust everyone had a great break and we have all settled back into school life and routines. We have a large number of major events and programs planned for the term so please keep an eye out on our calendar and School Stream app for dates and changes.

Sentral Access

At the end of last term, all families were provided with a unique link to access the Sentral portal for families to see their children's information such as timetables and to input absences etc. If you need some help in setting this up, please contact us at the school.

HSC Commences and Year 12 Formal

I wish all of our Academy students (Years 11 and 12) the very best as they sit their HSC exams over the coming weeks.  The first of the exams started last week and will conclude in Week 5 of this term. The Year 12 Formal will be held on Saturday 8 November and families of our Year 12 students have the information to purchase tickets.  Please try and finalise these by next week.

Thunderbolt's Festival This Weekend

The annual Thunderbolt's Festival will be held this weekend and our school will have a major presence at the event. We will have a school float and we encourage students K-12 to come along and join us in the parade.  Students are to meet staff at 9.45am at the front of the school dressed in something "Wild, Wild West" as this is the theme for 2025. The parade will then commence at 10am where students will leave the school float at Alma Park.  Primary students will need an adult to collect them from the park immediately after the parade.  The P&C will also have a hot dog stall at Alma Park and are keen to hear from anyone who can help them on the day. Please leave your details at the school if you are able to help.

Teddy Bears Picnic and Grandparents Day

We will once again hold our Teddy Bears Picnic and Grandparents Day on Friday 31 October.  We are also incorporating a Halloween theme. All family members are welcome to join us, especially grandparents, to be a part of some fun-filled events from 11.25am-1.25pm. Bring along your teddy bear!

Year 6 into Year 7 Experience Day

Our second, and final, Year 6 into Year 7 Transition Day will be held on Thursday 13 November.  We invite every student who is in Year 6 at Uralla Central School and at our local partner schools, to come along and join us for a day experiencing life as a Year 7 student!  Please contact me at the school if you have any questions or if you would like information about enrolling your child at our school for high school in 2026.  Please note, students currently enrolled at Uralla Central School do not have to complete an enrolment form to commence Year 7, this will happen automatically.

Online Content Concerns in Primary

Some concerns have recently come to our attention regarding some online content that a number of our primary students are encountering, and sharing outside of school, particularly through social media platforms such as Snapchat and Messenger.

It has been reported to us that some students are being exposed to, and are engaging in conversations about inappropriate topics, such as vaping and using language that insults or hurts others. Although these issues are occurring outside of school hours and not at school, discussions and incidents are increasingly being brought into the classroom and playground environments. This is causing disruptions to the learning atmosphere and affecting the wellbeing of students.

As a school community, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all students. We ask for your support in monitoring your child’s social media activity and discussing the importance of respectful and responsible online behaviour while at home. Thank you for your help.

Have a great fortnight!
