Gaga Ball Pit & Term 4 Fundraiser Update
What is Gaga Ball?
Gaga Ball is when you throw a bunch of players and a ball in a hexagonal or octagonal shaped pit. Then it's every student for themselves! You can only touch the ball with your hands. The aim of the game is to hit the ball with your hands towards another students legs. If it hits your knees and below then you're out and you have to exit the pit. You keep going until there's no one left. The last person standing wins.
Why did we bring the Gaga Ball Pit here?
This year when the Year 6 students went on camp, there was a Gaga Ball pit. Every minute we had free everyone would play. We enjoyed it so much that we had to tell our fellow SRCs back at school. From there, the students wrote a letter and a petition to Mrs Heatley and the SRCs and us convinced her on why it's amazing.
System
We've come up with a great system so everyone gets to have a turn during outside play time. You can find the schedule down below!
Here from one of our Year 6 Students about Gaga Ball
The idea for a gaga ball pit at Karoo came from when the year 6 students went on Year 6 camp to Phillip island. One day when we were there, the power went out! We weren't sure what to do but then we remembered there was a gaga ball pit. So we played gaga ball for a few hours. My mum is a P.E teacher and has played this game before. She taught me how to play and so l introduced the rules to everyone and explained how to play the game. It was so much fun we had a blast! Every day after that we would play whenever we had time. When we left we were devastated. We couldn't play gaga every day. But then we had an idea to bring joy to our school for everyone. People sent letters to Mrs.Heatley to persuade her to bring the gaga game to our school. We were very successful and now we have a wooden gaga pit for all Grades to enjoy forever! - Georgia K 6HB
