Week 7 and 8 in STEAM

The Preps used the design process to create happy face seed planters. These are looking fantastic and the students will fill these with soil and plant seeds in them next week. They also used drawing guides to create images of food and created playdough models of healthy foods and sometimes foods.

The Grade Ones and Twos continued to work on their seed packets. They added planting instructions and filled their packets with seeds before sealing them ready to take home to either plant or give to family members as a gift. They conducted an investigation to make grevillea cordial. Check it out here. They also used drawing guides to create images of food from different food groups.

The Grade Threes and Fours continued to work on creating their food packaging using the design process. They learned about using the nutrition panel calculator from Food Standards Australia and New Zealand to create a nutrition panel for their food product. This tool can be used to create a nutrition panel for any recipe check it out here. They added their nutrition panel and ingredients list to their packaging and followed a recipe to create chocolate chip cookies.

The Grade Fives continued to work on their food truck business designs. They worked on constructing their food truck models according to their designs. They also developed menus to match their business that included healthy options based on the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating.
